Here then is another one of those balanced beers in which the balance is of all of the elements in extreme. Thus it is my interpretation of balance, not necessarily that of true balance (such as a Northeastern IPA).

Deep coppery color with a tan head. Big, nay giant aroma of hops and malt and a boozy something. Interesting as it is only (only!) 8.5. The aroma is not delivered in the flavor. It is surpassed. Huge citrus-piney goodness upfront, followed by the deep caramel maltiness and finishing with the balance of resin and syrup.. not the alcohol I expected based on the aroma.

Having these guys in my back yard, I am indeed one lucky bastard.

A - pours mid amber with thick head
S - Pine and citrus hops overpower any sense of oak or malt
T - Citrus and tropical hop flavors with a huge thwack of pine bitterness that overwhelms the finish. Malt backbone is there but not much oak going on that I can detect; hops crushes all else. A bit of alcohol heat which was a surprise for only 8.5%
M - Nice creamy malts support the hops

O - Nice beer, and a decent price as a bomber (6 or 6.50 I think). Nice to try, but nothing I would feel the need to revisit in a hurry.

Nice mix of dank hops, oak, and faint caramel sweetness. Comes off just as you'd imagine from the blend of DB, OAB, and AB....Drinkable like most Stone brews...would revisit
