Most noticeable on the nose is a Stone classic hop blend. Not overly dank it's a more balanced profile of herbal and resiny notes.

The flavor is far more hop forward, as this is a Strong Ale. A bit of malt supports the backdrop but a herbal, floral hop sets bravely at the forefront. This is very good but simply doesn't distinguish itself from the rest of Stones repertoire

Pours a finger and half of head on a clear dark straw body.
The aroma is lots of lemon and pine with a little mango and grain.
The taste is a great blend of lemon, pine and grapefruit bitter with mild caramel and malty sweetness.
The texture is quite soft and nice.
Really enjoyable.

You feel like a lucky bastard when you buy this thing, and it does not disappoint. It is strong, but not an overpowering ale. You can still make out the wonderful mix of flavors., and it continues to taste great until the last swig.

22oz bottle, bottled 10/03/14, poured into pint glass

A- pours a clear amber color with a small creamy off-white head that reduces to a small layer floating on top, short lasting lace left behind

S- lots of barleywine-like aromas; notes of piney, citrus, earthy & grassy hops, toasted caramel malt with some doughy aroma to close it out

T- big malty and sweet backbone gives large notes of caramel/toffee, brown sugar & fresh brown bread. Hop profile gives notes of pine, orange peel, & earthy/herbal notes. Sweet malty finish with a little bit of leafy hop on the linger

M- thick & viscous body with moderate carbonation leads to a creamy and chewy mouthfeel, and a silky slightly warming finish

O- a well balanced strong ale that is quite drinkable for 8.5%

Not bad, but the mix of 3 beers is a bit too ambitious and seems to create an almost volcanic eruption of flavors.

A - Pours a reddish-brown with a two-finger foamy off-white head. Lots of heavy soapy lacing.

S - Aromas of citus, piney hops, and caramel malts.

T - The flavor follows the nose. Upfont there is a strong amount of sweet caramel malts and citrus (orange & grapefruit). The sweetness is cut mid palate by the earthy/piney hops. The finish has some bitter hops, vanilla, and light booziness.

M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Very smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Dry finish.

O - This is definetly my favorite of the Bastards. The flavors are very well rounded. Very solid beer.

Deep ruby red with a heavy garnett orange hue and good clarity. Poured with a thick, rich, light beige foam that quickly reduced to a soapy cap. An array of  aromas: over ripe citrus orange and pineapple, vanilla, sweet dark fruit, herbal hops, funky yeast, and caramel malt. Medium bodied with lazy, yet incredibly rich carbonation through the middle. Tangy, minty and ripe citrus hop flavors with smooth vanilla. Sweet maltiness throughout. Herbal and citrus hops give way to emerging pine hoppiness from the middle to the end. Finished semi-dry with a slightly subdued lingering pine hop bitterness. The Bastards belong in the their own category.
