From a 12 oz. into a plastic hotel cup...

Nice cappucino-colored head with solid lacing. Deep, dark, mahogany body.

Solid floral hops backed up with nice quotient of caramel malt.

Mild overall but relatively powerful hop texture-a little oily, too. Malt is there but subdued, so swings towards straightforward grassy hop bitterness with warmth.

Mouthfeel is crisp with depth at first but warmth leans towards bitter and heavy. Fair shake of earthiness in here.

Definitely sessionable...has the Stone signature on it so will be more drinkable than most in the style.

Always enjoy Stone's Beers. Always full of flavor and an all around great beer. This one does not disappoint but there was a slight turn-off. As the flavor was ok and the smell and appearance were really nice, I felt that this beer was way too carbonated. I do not see a dateon the bottle so I do not know how fresh or how old this is. Too much carbonation spoiled the overall flavor but still a decent beer. As far as the Stone beers I have tried, this one is on the bottom of the list

Semi-clear dark amber beer has a big cream-colored head. Lacing is great with good head retention too.

Smells have caramel malts and hop aromas of citrus and pine.

The taste features a piney hop bitterness. There's a backbone of malts too, but this beer is all about the hop notes.

The finish is dry and has bitterness of hop resins. Mouthfeel is fairly think for just a 4.4% brew.

Overall a tasty hoppy red ale.

Thanks Kirk for this one!
