A: amber with orange hues. Very strong carbonation. Huge, 3 inch head on top. Very bubbly.
S: hoppy witha citrus twang. Some hints of grapefruit and pine. I also get a faint fruitiness and caramel malt aroma.
T: Solid hop bite with herbal to citrus to pine. A grapefruit rind bitterness. Definitely a more hoppy amber ale. Some resinous hoppiness sits in the throat. The malts are well represented too. Solid caramel backbone without being too cloying. Some hints of toastiness too. Superb flavors for such a little beer.
M: very strong carbonation, maybe a little too much. Finishes plenty dry. Slight stickiness from the hops sticks in the throat.
D: a real nice american amber ale. Definitely on the hoppier end. I agree that this is essentially "the little bastard," when comparing this beer to Stone's more well known strong ale. I really liked this beer. Definitely one I would grab when looking for a more hoppy amber ale.
