Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a goblet.
Appearance: Pours a dark, reddish amber. It came out of the fridge a little cold, so there wasn't much head and it dissipated pretty quickly.
Smell: Funky, musty, earthy citrus and piney hops aroma. A touch of caramel sweetness but not much. The smell is just alright. It's alright, but not great.
Taste: Much more balanced than the nose would indicate. Sip starts with a big bite of carbonation...sharp and prickly. Lots of rich caramel malt flavor....very nice. The finish is dry and mildly bitter. Nice tasting.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. The carbonation is a bit much, but it doesn't derail the beer on the whole. Obviously, the drinkability is superb at 4.4%. There's a lot of flavor in this eminently sessionable beer.
Overall: When you want a quality, well crafted beer with not a lot of alcohol, Levitation should be near the top of your list.

12oz. bottle poured into pint glass.
A: Pours a pristine deep amber hue, nearly mahogany, I'd say, with an amber-tinged white head that quickly fades to a creamy cap and retains like a champion. A few wisps of lace remain, but nothing overly impressive... not that I was expecting much from a beer of 4.4%.
S: I wasn't expecting this much of a hop profile, honestly. Some wonderful floral hop aromas mixed with some bready malts. Nothing wild here, but definitely impressive for a session ale.
T: Follows the nose quite closely. Lots of floral hops with just an ever so slight touch of grapefruit. Roasted malts underneath don't provide much sweetness, but add almost a smokiness to the brew.
M: A medium-light body is strange, given the fact that this is a Stone brew, but I guess I should be taking the style into consideration. At only 4.4% ABV, this is a very acceptable brew that offers some silky textures and refined carbonation that allows for superb drinkability. Would serve excellently outdoors in the summer.
O: Stone offers a lovely take on this style, substantially beefing up the hop presence in this style to really add their signature touch on it. While I wouldn't reach for this all the time, it serves as an absolutely perfect beer for BBQs, game night, or just any night when you're looking for great hop flavors in a beer that doesn't weigh you down too much.
