Had on tap at DLD. Two pours altogether!!!

A- Pours a brown color with a amberish highlight. Half finger tan head shows light retention. No real lacing on the sides of the glass but then again I didn't expect much in a plastic cup.

S- Caramel malts in the front with a light toffee undertone. Hints of bitter hops in the middle with a earthy pepper tone. Hints of smoke in the ending. This beer smells like Double Bastard with a hint of smoke and pepper.

T- Starts off with some biscuity malts and light caramel tones. Pepper notes in the front to middle of the beer gives off a little bit of heat but not much else. Little bit of spicey hops mixed up with some hints of biscuity malts. This gets paired up with a nice smokey and peppery finish on the backend. Alcohol doesn't really show up at all in this beer.

M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the style. Bicuity malts, caramel malts, and light pepper notes are left on the palate. Aftertaste is smoke, heat from pepper, and spicey hops. Flavors were balanced for a beer brewed with peppers. No off flavors although it would be hard to tell with the heat on the backend of this beer. Medium alcohol drying on the palate.

O- This beer is interesting to say the least. The pepper is very strong in the middle to the ending which gives the most flavor overall. The ABV was not at all in the flavor which was a nice surprise. Although, this beer was flavorful I could only have so much of it before I had to call it quits.

Mid. 2011 Review: 25 cl. draft @ Stone vs. Moeder event: dark amber-red with a small head, smells like spicy hop, slight yeast & spices, taste is hot chilli’s mixed bitter grapefruit hops, bitter hop first with a very hot aftertaste, light yeast with a light but clearly present caramel malt backbone, some pepper & spices first as well, the Chipotle hasn’t burned away all of the underlying beer’s taste yet, not as mouth-numbingly spicy as Crime - too bad :)

On tap at Congregation Ale House in Pasadena, CA.

2010 vintage.

Pours a murky orange-brown with a foamy tan head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Thin foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, caramel, yeast, and pepper aromas. Taste is much the same with a mild pepper heat on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with some nice aromas and flavors.

'10 Double Bastard with Chipotles could only have happened at Bittercreek's Stone Tap Takeover!! Dave and Erin were very cool .. Nicely done.

The brew is deep amber with a decent head... nose is smokey and lightly firey.. good maltiness helps carry the chilies... surprising how much hoppiness and base beer is left to make good on the aromas.

Flavor is fantastic... caramel and pungent/graperfruit hops are stopped in the tracks by a dry smokey chili essence... the heat is very bearable and adds huge complexity.. loving this one.. the ABV is hidden nicely.. the malt and chipotle flavor are great together.

This is a great beer... I was surprised how much I enjoyed it.. Very well done.

A - appearance was good. Nice carbonation that lasted with some lacing.

S - Hops pretty good. Could not smell peppers or Cinnamon, which the Stone rep. said was in the beer. No one drinking it pick up the Cinnamon.

T - taste was nice. No alcohol taste, well blended hop and malt balance. The pepper was laid back, no real bite. You could taste the pepper effects similar to other strong tastes on the back of the tongue.

M - Good mouth feel.

O - I'll admit I am not a hop fan. This specialty beer is not for me, but nice for the style.

2010 vintage. On tap at Churchill's.

A: Reddish brown with a beige head.

S: Caramel melds with chipotle and pine. Grapefruit wafts from the glass.

T: There's a light heat from the pepper, but it's mostly chipotle flavor, lots of it. Caramel is pronounced, and there is much pine. The pepper goes nicely with the booze and bitterness.

M: Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Overall: A solid variation on Double Bastard.

S- regular hoppy arrogant gastard. Not much else there.

T- the chipotle peppers rally come through here. Very spicy and stick around for awhile

M- medium body and oh so smooth

O- very nice variation with q slow burn I enjoy
