Three of the best IPA makers in San Diego County get together to make a... Scotch Ale? OMG I'm so confuse!
Eh... not really, but the little blurb suggesting as much is cute on the bottle. In reality, I know these three for much more than their hops.
This pours divinely. A cloud of head nestles down atop a bright mahogany body of brew. The aroma is all over the place, in a very good way. Well-meshed booze within a forest of roasty malts lets you smell what you would like. It's all there. Coffee, toffee, berried wine, a subtle hint of oak.
Taste is superb. Perfectly blended malts and hops, backed up by killer mouthfeel. This is smoother than most stouts.
The highlight of this beer is in its balance, which makes it hard to write about. But damn, right out of the bottle and it tastes like straight up cask ale. Amazing job these fine young men do. Get some.
