Pours a golden copper color with lots of activity going on in the glass. The beer pours with a solid finger head, slowly descending to less than half, but maintaining a solid consistency and never fully dissipating.
The aroma is remarkable. Lots of hop character up front, lending citrus, lemon peel, and coriander to the nose.
Wow, that is an interesting flavor. It is an IPA, with strong hops, blending citrus, grapefruit, and other standard characteristics. But then there is the green tea, which rides right up front with those hops. The beer tastes like a blended (alcoholic) tea made up of tea leave, hop leaves, and cereal grains to add substance and body. Truly balanced, bitter, and rich.
There is a bit of chalkiness on the tongue...not something that is distracting, but almost a bit medicinal and quite herbal. The mouthfeel is almost reminiscent of the finish of a Belgian Saison, or strong Tripel. It is very earthy, and allows for the unique flavors of the beer to linger.
Overall, this is an excellent beer. The flavors come together well, providing a beer that is balanced, easy to drink (dangerous at 9.2%), and exciting.
