I love green tea, and I love beer. Why not combine them? And a nice tribute to the wonderful country of Japan as well. Stone, I love you.
That said, this is a good beer. Not great, like many of Stone's, but for adding in something not commonly found in beers and having it be even "okay" is a win, so for it to be good, oh yes!
The beer looks good. Like an IPA but almost darker. Now realizing how alike tea and beer look sometimes...
Smells hoppy. Piney. Slight, SLIGHT smell of tea in it, but not overpowering, like the smell of coffee in Coffee Porters.
Tastes hoppy, bitter. No fruit traces here. The green tea taste is very, very mild, but it really complements (and compliments) the beer taste. You really notice it in the aftertaste, and if you burp, you'll taste the green tea.
Feels good in the mouth, carbonated, but just like green tea, I don't go swishing it around. Taste it on your teeth, maybe from the tea.
Overall, a good beer, and a great idea. I'd like to see more tea-infused beers, I think the tastes go well together, and who knows, they could up the medicinal properties even more if combined, eh?
