There is no way to get around this - it's a cherry chocolate stout. If you want that in a beer, you'll get it here.

Looks dark but with a hint of red, hmm, I wonder why.

Smells more chocolatey than anything else, but there's a tartness to it, much like you find in dark chocolate or, dare I say, cherries?

It tastes like a chocolate stout, actually more like a porter really, more carbonation. Chocolate overpowers, and is good, and a hint of the cherry in the bite and at the end. More of a "tartness" overall for the cherry taste, but if you've ever had chocolate cherries, you know that the cherry taste doesn't always come through strong.

Feels good to drink. Lingers on the teeth, tastes like dark cocoa going down.

If this tasted sickly like cherries, it wouldn't be good. But as it stands, it's a chocolate stout with a tartness that is welcome. Not a "go-to" Stout by any means, but as a nice dessert, it's lovely.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a nice large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light cherry with limited residual sugars notes and some black chocolate is really interesting. Taste is also a very nice mix of light cherry notes with some good black chocolate notes with a lightly sweet finish. Body is quite full for style with good carbonation. Quite enjoyable overall but I was expecting a bit more cherry notes to this beer.

Had this last night during our "Night of a Thousand Stouts" beer party my wife and I hosted. It smelled good, could detect the chocolate and cherry notes, the look was a little watery and thin, same with the overall mouthfeel. While it did deliver the chocolate covered cherry flavor I was expecting, it wasn't as good as the Ten Fidy we had just sampled right before it.

2011 bottling. Served slightly chilled into a tulip glass.

Cherry Chocolate Stout is very dark brown on the pour and nearly black in the glass. It has thin tan head that settles quickly to a skim layer.

Aroma is sweet and roasty with hints of cherry and chocolate.

Flavor is more bold in the cherry character but still has a rich robust stout base beer. There is more bitterness than sweetness which is unexpected given the name. Chocolate is there as is the vanilla but it never drinks like a dessert beer.

Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with a little more carbonation than a beer of this style really needs.

Overall a decent flavored stout but not outstanding.

Sampled from a 12oz bottle. Thanks surge1311.

A - Big and black with no light coming through. A small tan head. The beer sticks to the glass nicely.

S - As billed, cherries and chocolate. But the chocolate fades and the cherries take over. Vanilla and brown sugar poke through at times.

T - Again, cherry and chocolate. Also a mild sweetness. The flavors are bold and linger a long time. The cherry is a bit too dominant and eventually wears you down.

M - A moderate consistency with a low carbonation.

O - A good beer and well worth a try but one was probably enough.
