A muddy brown appearance with a soapy tan ring atop. Brown sugar, molasses, date, papaya, lemon/orange peel, pine and alcohol on the nose.
Tastes of dank hops, pine, lemon, papaya, brown sugar, date. Finishes with a hint of cocoa, faint vanilla, alcohol and floral hops. Approaching full-bodied with medium carbonation and slick slightly oily mouthfeel.
An aggressive brown ale but a beer that's familiar to me. Stone's brewing characteristics are dominant, i'd like to see them step away from the usually hopping procedure and try something different (although the trailer on YouTube for this beer does mention Stone using a very common hop variety for the first time, it still seems too "stoney".)
