Poured into a pint glass. Pours slightly hazy dark caramel brown with an ice cream soda-like tan head that dissipates slowly. Some lacing is left on the side of the glass. It appears to be well carbonated due to tiny bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. The aroma is hop forward. There are bright citrus and grassy hops. There are roasted malts and molasses in the aroma. It doesn't quite smell like any brown ale I've had. The taste is as hop forward as the aroma, almost seeming like an American IPA with the amount of bitter pine and citrus hop flavors. Behind the hops are the expect flavors of a brown ale. There's dark roasted malts and molasses in the taste, bringing some sweet and bready flavors to this beer. The alcohol is well hidden in the flavor. The body is medium with adequate carbonation. The finish is dry and sticky. The drinkability is high. Overall, this is an excellent beer. The bottle calls this an extra hoppy brown ale. I would label this as a brown IPA because it seems to be a merger of these familiar styles. It is definitely worth it to try this collaboration. Well done.
