2012 edition, poured from a 22oz bottle into a pint glass
A: Reddish brown with a 1/2-finger head that settles very quickly
S: Nice, fairly typical barleywine nose full of roasted malts along with some caramel, toffee and a touch of hops
T: Fruit esters, rich malt, toffee and caramel. Like the nose, typical for the style but well done
M: Full-bodied, a bit sweet/viscous but again that's the norm for this type of brew
O: Solid as are most Stone brews. Nothing extraordinary here but a nice beer try if you're looking for a good example of the barleywine style. I have to give a nod in that respect to the SN Bigfoot though, mostly because it comes in a 12oz bottle which given the high abv is much easier to consume solo than the 22oz here

Appearance: Amber hue with a beige head that surprisingly dissipates somewhat quickly. Very bubbly.
Smell: Tons of malts, as is to be expected.
Taste: Malty, biscuity, earthy richness. As it warms up, more flavors come out, though I can't identify them all... They just taste good. Booze comes out and lights up your nasal cavity a bit at the end of a sip.
Mouthfeel: Nice level of viscosity and carbonation.
Overall: My second barleywine after SN Bigfoot, and I think I like it better. It's a very pleasant beer that I may get another one of, and see what aging does to it.

Got this off tap at crunchys in east lansing. served in a snifter.
A: pours a fine clear ruby orange color with a short beige head that dissipates fast leaving a thin remanant that lasts the whole way. medium amounts of lacing too.
S: thick, wafty aroma. barley, yeast, malts, bourbon, caramel, brown sugars, hops, booze
T: woooo. strong flavor. wheat, barley, bourbon, yeast, caramel, woody, very bitter, hoppy, strong kick of booze.
M: rich full body with lower amounts of carbonation, a slow sipper fore sure. bitter, hoppy, booze after taste.
O: sheet. crazy strong. Crazy good.pricey but id recommend it.
Serving type: on-tap
