A - pours a rich opaque dark brown with tints of red, very dark. Forms about an inch of mocha colored head with fair retention and decent lacing.
S - Very sweet and malty, dark chocolate richness, mocha, caramel, molasses type aromas complimented with dark fruits. Some earthy/spiced hops come through, but mostly rich sugars/malts.
T - Pretty strong tasting, malts and hops intertwine throughout the sip, bold spiciness comes through more at the finish. A nice dark fruit presence shows up before and after a mild alcohol burn comes in at the finish lingers a bit. Pretty robust and malts dominate for the most part. Definitely a little yeasty at the finish as well.
M - Pretty full bodied, appropriate carbonation. A sipper for me.
O - All in all pretty decent, a little hard to appreciate all the flavors with so much going on and a bit of alcohol/yeaster burn twang 1-2 punch that subtracts from the other flavors. the finish is less than desirable.
