a deep brown pour with a half inch of creme colored head, nice retention and patchy lacing.
initial smell is of sulfur.. kind of off putting. hints of roasted caramel, sweet malt.
the taste has a weird earthy/oxidized taste up front but is then masked by a booze heavy earthy bitterness. spicyness/dark roasted grains, the hops barely pull through all the bitter roasty flavors but are somewhat present as spicy/bittering hops. that sulfur is back with a finish..
medium-full body, very heavy, very creamy. mildly carbonated, this strong ale masks the high alcohol content fairly well with its bitterness.
I feel like this would be way more enjoyable fresh. feels like it oxidized in the bottle maybe, just had a weird off putting sulfur-like overall taste and it ruined it for me.
