Clear orange amber with moderate frothy tan head with great retention. Huge, resinous citrus and pine aroma. Big malt sweetness of bread and caramel tempered with huge hop notes of orange and pine. Long alcohol and hop linger. Silky smooth.
Unbelievably, this beer is balanced and smooth with huge hop flavor but not bittering. Like most of the new Stone beers, it is easily palatable. An amazing achievement considering the beer but it’s so sweet it’s almost a barleywine with just enough linger to remind you it’s Ruination. A good beer and I’m not sure exactly what I was expecting but frankly it’s a little disappointing considering the legacy of Ruination, it’s just a higher ABV version.
