American Double / Imperial IPA |  10.80% ABV

Availability: Summer

Notes/Commercial Description:
We first released this decidedly indelicate beer in 2012, as Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our belovedly bitter Stone Ruination IPA. Stone RuinTen IPA uses the same recklessly hoppy recipe as the 2012 release; only the name has changed, as we plan to unleash this belligerently delicious hop monster upon the public annually from now on. We packed a whopping five pounds of hops into each barrel, and cranked up the ABV to stand up to the hop onslaught. The results are glorious, and we know you'll rejoice in tasting this audacious gem of hoppy splendor once again. You're welcome.

Ruination!

Pours out a nice clear orange/yellow with a decent white head.

The aroma smacks you in the face with hops; there are citrus notes, tropical notes of grapefruit, mango, pineapple and slightly piney notes with a hint of caramel malt sweetness.

The taste is identical with a heavy amount of tropical hop flavors followed by piney hops, slightly sweet caramel malt and it all finishes with a nice dry bitterness. There is no hint of alcohol.

This beer is amazing and I LOVE the regular Ruination. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up.

From my Stolzle(umlat on the o) short tulip
Color of Jack Daniels on the rocks with a splash of water, off-white foam
Smells like it tastes...chocolate covered orange peel , cantaloupe and the bitter bile taste in the back of your throat when you blow chow...
Balanced tween hops and malt...some sweetness to temper
Smooth mouth-feel after the swallow
Overall, for a one time shot, I liked it but if the next year's tastes like this -No dice!

Not beautiful looking but otherwise a great beer.As with most Stone IPAs, scent is piney and grassy, but I find this one a bit more restrained. Taste is similar with a touch of sweet maltiness. What makes this beer a cut above most of the rest is the creamy mouthfeell that seems unusual for IPAs. This is a fantastic beer and I'm consistently impressed with Stone and their piney versions of this style.

Poured a deep clear amber. Minimal white head leaves some moderate lacing. The aroma is not overwhelming but has some nice depth with rich caramel malt tones balancing the aggressive hopping. The taste amplifies the aroma and is delicious. It is lighter bodied but not thin and is an excellent example of an imperial IPA.

Poured from a 1PT. 6 FL. OZ. bottle into a pint glass. BOTTLED ON 06/09/14.

Appearance: Pours a robust burnt orange body with a thick soft white head.

Smell: Fresh dank, fruity, citrusy hops. Orange mixed with pine. In true "Ruin" fashion, the malt is overwhelmed.

Taste: Delicious pine, citrus, and tropical hop flavor. A surprisingly decent sweet malt backbone.

Mouthfeel: Very smooth.

Overall: Not as mind blowing as my first Stone Ruination several years ago, but still robust as far as DIPAs go!
