These big IIPAs have been my favorite beers at times. Lately, I find many of them to be too sweet from sheer gravity or too vegetable from trying to hop past the high final gravity. Stone' s Tenth Anniversary Ruination is almost one of these "too big to pull off" beers. Hell, it's drinks very different from Ruination, which is awesomely bitter but rather low gravity compared to many of today's DIPAs. But this beer, like slim few others I have had recently, pulls off HUGE without making a mess of itself. It doesn't taste like pumpkin or willow bark. It's not cloying. It actually pushes right up against the edge of disaster but doesn't O.D. It is huge, so I dont feel its relationship to Ruination, but its a damn well made beer.
