An aggressive pour into a tulip glass from a bomber yields a nice, off-white one finger head with low retention. Doesn't leave much lacing but has some nice alcohol legs. Classic west coast IPA; beautiful hazy orange.
Sweet, juicy and very tropical hops bombard the nose. There are definitely some grassy, earthier notes as well. The hope presence is very citric and a small swirl releases the dankier and spicier notes.
Strong punch of big hops, very citric and acidic. Nice rindy lemon notes are forward with some complexities such as mango and bell pepper. The heat from the booze definitely livens things up a bit, as the spiciness leads to a very citron-vodka-esque nature. The bitterness of the hops negates the malt backbone, which is just present enough to let the hops shine.
Mouthfeel is pleasant with enough oil to match the dryness. Good carbonation. Bitterness and booze persists throughout.
Definitely a big winner from Stone. There is a slight imbalance to the brew, and may perhaps just be a touch too bitter. However, this is purposefully a HUGE beer, definitely take your time with it.
