22oz bottle from CBX. Poured into a Bell's tulip glass...
A: Deep gold / tangerine, with an off-white, creamy 2-finger head; a few strands of lace cling to the glass. Looks pretty perfect for a 10.8% imperial IPA.
S: Citrus hoppiness and some tropical fruit syrup aroma; a wee bit of dank / resin and grapefruit rind is there, too - but the dry tropical fruit is what really gets me.
T: Big time citrus hop blast... Mango, grapefruit, orange pith... It's all there. Just enough malt sweetness to cut the dryness - there almost seems to be a bit of honey.
M: Close to full bodied; moderate carbonation; a touch viscous and oily... Pretty typical of an IPA of this stature.
O: One of the best imperial IPAs I've had! Nice hop aroma and taste with just enough malt to keep things in check. Pretty drinkable considering the huge abv. I might have to pick up a few more of these...
