From a bomber into a tulip.
A-There is a small but persistent head. Light tan in color. The brew is cloudy with a golden/copper hue. The head goes away pretty quickly, but the collar remains.
S-An earthy mix of pineapple and sage. Light citrus flavors with a touch of spice and heat from the alcohol. The smell was pleasant, but not as inviting as say, the New Belgium/Alpine Super IPA. Ruination is an appropriate descriptor, I guess.
T-The flavors generally follow the smell, i.e., some pineapple, some piney sage. I found this one to be a little unbalanced on the bitter side and I also noticed a hint of off-putting onion flavor on the finish. Alcohol was definitely there.
M-Almost crisp, especially for an IIPA. Medium bodied with a touch of carbonation. I didn't find it to be as resinous as some super hop beers. The ABV and powerful flavor mean this is a sipper.
O-This was, as promised, ruinous of my palate, but unlike regular Ruination, which I enjoy, this was too unbalanced (on the bitter side) for my liking. Still, if you like powerful hops, this is worth a look.
