A: Pours quite an exquisite golden hue with quite a miniscule white head. It may be small but it leaves a lasting impression on the glass.
S: The astounding aroma of hoppy goodness is quite amazing. It's quite a nice floral, piney essence with minimal malt sweetness coming through.
T: Personally I think the three letters "IPA" should be changed to "HOP" and this is a perfect example why. Amazing burst of hop flavor coats the palate in quite a delicate way considering the 10.8% ABV. Surprisingly, it is the sweet malt flavor that initially comes through. It is quickly, and let me emphasize QUICKLY, replaced by the stupendous hoppy flavor.
M: I was quite flabbergasted by this brew. At first the stickiness that most high ABV brews have is the first impression received. However, like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, it goes from monstrous to very well mannered. For 10.8% there is relatively no alcohol sensation, which is profoundly impressive.
O: Stone Brewing is one of my favorites, and this only helps to validate my reasoning. This brew delivers a perfect, and quite delicious, example of the DIPA style. Well done.
