Availability: Summer

Notes/Commercial Description:
We first released this decidedly indelicate beer in 2012, as Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our belovedly bitter Stone Ruination IPA. Stone RuinTen IPA uses the same recklessly hoppy recipe as the 2012 release; only the name has changed, as we plan to unleash this belligerently delicious hop monster upon the public annually from now on. We packed a whopping five pounds of hops into each barrel, and cranked up the ABV to stand up to the hop onslaught. The results are glorious, and we know you'll rejoice in tasting this audacious gem of hoppy splendor once again. You're welcome.

Poured a nice clear amber with a half-finger off white head that looked quite nice. Scents of grapefruit, citrus, orange rind, pine, floral and grassy notes, sweet malt, and tropical fruit. An excellent nose, that entices you to begin drinking this wonderfully aromatic beer. Flavor is intense, beginning with beginning with strong grapefruit notes and citrus rind, moving into pine and grassy flavors, still maintaining the heavy grapefruit and citrus flavors, moderate flavors of resinous hops. There is a nice sweet malt backbone that stays throughout the sip and balances the hops. There is a noticeable alcohol presence and the finish is bitter, with a very bitter hop aftertaste. Excellent, a true hop bomb, but with a nice balance with sweet malt. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sticky hit with slight alcohol burn as well. A nice mouthfeel that burns just enough and is just right in the body to go down smooth, but still remain strong. A fantastic hop bomb DIPA, similar in many ways to the Enjoy By, but with a slightly heavier body and more malt and alcohol presence. The hops are also a bit more forward. Truly excellent and I am glad I was able to find a bottle.

Poured into a tulip glass; darker orange with a huge thick fluffy white head that leaves some rocky lacing. Smell is big hops, almost gin-like piney scents with some other juicy citrus smells as well. Taste is a big, half fruity half bitter foretaste moving into a smooth malt body, finishing very bitter and a little dryer than expected. Alcohol is surprisingly hidden for 10%+.
A delicious DIPA, hopheads must try this one.

The insanity of hops can never be fully appreciated. Around every nook and cranny of every luplin filled bud of delectable hop, is just a little more of that sweet bitter elixir. Stone seems to be able to coax the very god of hops, Luplinious, to their every beckoning call.

Beautiful amber with fluffy white head can hardly contain the bubbling aroma of hops that fills the room, and your taste buds wet and the full anticipation of what you are about to quaff is something meant for greater men, but drink you shall.

A dizzying thunderhead of hops graces the entirety of your palate and you are in the clutches of the crawling vine of absolute. Finishing spicy with a big malty clean through the swallow and hops hops hop hop hops good sir.

For the brewery who can lay claim as Luplin mad, they really need to be committed, to making this again.

Today, August 1st, is National IPA Day and I thought to commemorate this occassion with a bomber of Firestone Walker Double Jack (See My Review); however, upon opening the fridge, I was angrily confronted by a foreboding bomber of Stone Ruinten, brewed to honor the 10th Anniversary of the brewing of Stone Ruination, which screamed out: "Drink me, you perfidious mooncalf." Of course, me being an obedient mooncalf, did just that.

This one begins in a sturdy and steady vanilla froth that shimmers atop a pool of dark amber, dense and unknown, populated by a few lonely carbonation bubbles hesitantly scrambing to the surface. The nose is assaulted by an intense pine cone blast, while the palate is immediatel innundated by a massive tsunami of thick, malty caramel. Drink water, quickly! This elixir is armed with five pounds of hops - or, says the bottle: "A Mash Pit of Hops." Beneath this tongue-scrambling chaos lies a massive array of mango, pineapple, apple and licorice.

The only thing that keeps the head exploding is the miraculous balance that, like the Communists in Yugoslavia, keep the entire thing together with beauty and craftwork.
There is breadiness involved; in addition, a palpable dryness at the finish. Take anothe sip, and the palate is awash in a unique grassy pudding. While, one spends a few seconds chewing on hoppy gum, the Ruinten is not as gummy as, say, Oskar Blues' Gubna. Akk!

This is the Mecca for Hopheads - and where else can one taste "grassy pudding?"

Hazy orange with somewhat soapy, khaki,two-finger head. Left with a thin and bubbly cap that leaves thick and sticky patches of lace clinging to the glass after every sip.

Quite surprised by the amount of floral hops coming through. Went into this wholly expecting a blast of dank and sticky or at least a lot more pine. Even more citrus than expected. Had this pegged completely wrong. Rather enjoy the nose on this one.

Just slightly more aggressive in the taste, but still not as "hardcore" as I presumed. The floral hops take center stage for me, but there is presence of a fairly solid maly backbone. Don't really get any caramel sweetness I usually associate with a lot of this style. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Slightly filmy aftertaste, but not overly distracting.

Enjoyed, but don't see wanting to open a bomber every time. Would have again if on-tap or at least smaller sampling.

The beer had a dark yellow color with a white foam head. Very crisp taste. I could taste chocolate or caramel. Then a very fruity flavor. This beer has a lot going on in the taste department. There is this very hoppy pine taste with this beer also. This is not the best beer I have had from Stones, but it is good.
