It pours orange-copper with busy carbonation leading up to a long lasting moderate head. The aroma has a big piney hop character as well as a definitive butterscotch buttery maltiness and some tropical fruits. Very interesting and worth a decent grade. The body is medium to bold with an astringent texture. The taste also has this butterscotch undercurrent along with the biting hop bitterness that lingers and languishes at the end.

Was lucky enough to catch this at the new Stone Liberty Station brewpub on Nitro. Wow
App-Dark amber, typical of strong IPAs. Big creamy head, very nice lacing and retention.
Smell- OH MY GOD. This might be the best smelling beer EVER. Huge citrus and pine nose. though it dissipates fairly soon after the pour . My eyes were literally watering. I've had this on tap (Nitro baby!) and in bottles, and the nose is bigger by far on draft, but that's not shocking. If I could only buy candles with this scent!
Taste-Yeah....Stone pretty much always goes for BANG, and this beer definitely has plenty of that! If you've had the regular Ruination, this is Ruination taken to the next level. The hops just explode out of this beer, but it's got plenty of maltiness to balance that out, and even with the 10.8% ABV, it doesn't taste 'hot' at all. Great on it's own, but more than enough flavor to stand up to big, spicy food flavors. Great beer with chicken wings, but have a driver standing by, cuz it packs a wallop.
Mouthfeel-Solid and bready enough to stand up to all the hops and alcohol. Overall- If you like bland, fizzy water, this is NOT your beer! It's huge, 'in-your-face' hopiness is perfect for when you want the beer to be the main course in any meal. I'm lucky enough to live near Stone, and this will be in my fridge whenever it's available. It's a top 5 in the Imperial IPA category for me.
