Notes/Commercial Description:
We first released this decidedly indelicate beer in 2012, as Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our belovedly bitter Stone Ruination IPA. Stone RuinTen IPA uses the same recklessly hoppy recipe as the 2012 release; only the name has changed, as we plan to unleash this belligerently delicious hop monster upon the public annually from now on. We packed a whopping five pounds of hops into each barrel, and cranked up the ABV to stand up to the hop onslaught. The results are glorious, and we know you'll rejoice in tasting this audacious gem of hoppy splendor once again. You're welcome.

22oz. bottle into a Founders snifter. Best by date of 8/20/13.

Pours a frothy, light cream colored head with good retention. Beer is a clear copper. Lacing is thick, layered, and web-like with great stick. Couldn't ask for much more.

Nose is citrus, pine, resin, sap and cane sugar. Some caramel and brown sugar too. Super aromatic. Real nice.

Opens citrus, tree sap, brown sugar, and amber. Resin and hop bitterness in the middle rounded out by caramel, molasses, and brown sugar coarseness. End is citrus and more nutty sweetness. Aftertaste is hop bitterness mixed with a robust malt presence. Solid.

Medium bodied with moderate to ample carbonation. Filmy and prickly in the mouth and goes down aggressive and bubbly. Finishes messy with a lingering, coating aftertaste. Pretty good if a bit more robust than I would like.

RuinTen is one of those molasses-brown sugar-resin based IPAs that I usually don't like. However, this one pulls it off admirably and is actually quaffable. Decent but I think you really have to like this type of IPA to appreciate what's going on here. Still worth trying though.

This stuff has renewed my belief in IPAs. It as delicious! What a relief to finally be able to love a beer again. The aroma was good, and the taste was even better. Gorgeous head, guess lacy describes it, still there after writing about it. Was yum with hotdog for lunch; interesting with my Thai coconut shrimp soup (probably not the best choice with it, but its all I have to eat). Better than Ruination perhaps
