Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: ehammond1 on 06-14-2012

We first released this decidedly indelicate beer in 2012, as Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our belovedly bitter Stone Ruination IPA. Stone RuinTen IPA uses the same recklessly hoppy recipe as the 2012 release; only the name has changed, as we plan to unleash this belligerently delicious hop monster upon the public annually from now on. We packed a whopping five pounds of hops into each barrel, and cranked up the ABV to stand up to the hop onslaught. The results are glorious, and we know you'll rejoice in tasting this audacious gem of hoppy splendor once again. You're welcome.

22oz bomber poured into a stemmed tulip glass.

A- Dirty orange color, hazy and thick looking. Big white head and lacing like artwork.

S- Big citrus hop bomb, grapefruit. Pine tree resin, sweet malts and lots of alcohol.

T- Malty sweet with citrus hop overload. The alcohol is very forward and the sweetness fights through the hops.

M- Thick full feel. Resinous and beautifully bitter to the end. It is too cloyingly sweet and alcohol forward thus lacking balance.

0- I feed on hop bomb beers. This one delivers the hop fix. Its problems lie in the sweetness and alcohol overkill. I want to love it and rate it higher but it needs a tone down.

Bought this on a whim last weekend to enjoy with the All Star game.

The beer pours a pumpkin shade of orange with a thick foamy ecru colored head that leaves thick gobs of lacing lining the empty glass. Immediately upon opening the bottle there was a very strong smell of grapefruit and citrus imparted by the hops. After pouring the scent opens a bit more displaying an undercurrent of caramel sweetness beneath the dominating hops.

The taste is every bit as hoppy and it is surprising just how strong the hops are with the high alcohol content. Pine and a very strong citrus flavor commands the flavor. The back end has someof the caramel malt flavor and it mirrors the scent very well. Finishes with a strong hop bite. The alcohol content is hidden and makes no appearance in flavor or scent. The mouthfeel is on the slightly heavier side of medium bodied with very lively carbonation.

All about the hops, but you knew this before checkout. Enjoyed if not the most unique. A hop fiends' must try.
