American Double / Imperial IPA |  10.80% ABV

Availability: Summer

Notes/Commercial Description:
We first released this decidedly indelicate beer in 2012, as Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our belovedly bitter Stone Ruination IPA. Stone RuinTen IPA uses the same recklessly hoppy recipe as the 2012 release; only the name has changed, as we plan to unleash this belligerently delicious hop monster upon the public annually from now on. We packed a whopping five pounds of hops into each barrel, and cranked up the ABV to stand up to the hop onslaught. The results are glorious, and we know you'll rejoice in tasting this audacious gem of hoppy splendor once again. You're welcome.

A - appearance is a beautiful amber orange color, with a 1/2 inch head poured into a snifter.

S - smell is of dank tropical hops. Unbelievable.

T - taste is also of tropical hops, very hop forward flavor. Also can taste the alcohol, although the hop flavor is amazing. Also has a slight malt backbone.

M - good mouthfeel.

O - one of the best imperial IPA's I've ever had. Although I think Stone's Enjoy By is slightly better.

A very overrated beer IMO. I was expecting a hop bomb and received a malt bomb with a lot of hops added. I don't know how else to put it, but it tastes like an old DIPA. Very disappointing. Not much else to say. I would not waste my money again. Ruination and the regular IPA are much better.

Since I own a Craft Beer bar get a number of beers to try and many are common and basic.
This beer is outstanding for a high hop, high alcohol IPA.

Got this in a bottle.

The color is a golden yellow with a nice foam that cling to the glass. The smell, if you are a hop head, is for better sake of a word, is almost that pungent acrid smell that hoppy beers attain.

The taste is nice and acidic that cling to your palate and remains for a good while.A - Pours a nice orange color, two finger fluffy white head, thick lacing.

While other people might not like this type of style, this is the type I really enjoy.

If this lands in your neighborhood grab a couple of bottles and stash one for a couple of months.

Bomber > Sam's Pilsner

A - Pours a nice orange color, two finger fluffy white head, thick lacing.
S - Lots of fresh orange, mango, pineapple, big pine and caramel malt, smells like a lot.
T - This is a barrage of hops, actually for once, its too much, the good flavors are overwhelmed by an agressive ibu that is just too much.
M - Excessively bitter and too strong.
O - Its ruination, but overly hopped and too strong. Not thats great.

Served on tap at Lyons Hall Arlington, VA .Poured into a tulip
A: Solid copper. Light laced foam. Stickiness

S: Stank dank warrior tomahawk grapefruit pine dropjaw . Citra and centenial flower hops. Way more aromatic than regular ruination.Lemon oil, pineapple, sour white sugar lemon drops.

T: Wow. Amazing pine tar ipa flavoring facepunch. Sweet and sour white grapefruit. White sugar lemon drops. Its very bitter and corruptly citrus lemon peel. Man this takes ruination up a notch. If this was bottles year around I would buy this by the case. It puts everything to shame. Buy this beer.

M: Full to medium body. Frothy and throat tingling. Sour and tar. Crisp alcohol and thickly wet.

O: If this wasn't my last and best beer of the night I would be buying more. Amazing fantastic wondrous must try buy and save IPA.

Add on : the review was for the original release, the 2014 batch has a great cayenne/white pepper finish that really wows the tastebuds!
