American Double / Imperial IPA |  10.80% ABV

Availability: Summer

Notes/Commercial Description:
We first released this decidedly indelicate beer in 2012, as Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our belovedly bitter Stone Ruination IPA. Stone RuinTen IPA uses the same recklessly hoppy recipe as the 2012 release; only the name has changed, as we plan to unleash this belligerently delicious hop monster upon the public annually from now on. We packed a whopping five pounds of hops into each barrel, and cranked up the ABV to stand up to the hop onslaught. The results are glorious, and we know you'll rejoice in tasting this audacious gem of hoppy splendor once again. You're welcome.

A- Clear amber body with a nice white head that dissipates to a small foam cap. Orange when held up to light.

A- Piney citrus aroma. Slight boozy notes.

T- Super citrus grapefruit with a nice caramel malt backing. Hop flavor throughout with a pleasant bitterness. Alcohol is definitely present and provides a bit of warmth.

M- Medium full body with moderate carbonation. There is a bite, but I think that is a combination of the carbonation, hops, and booziness. Smooth going down prior to the bite.

D- Quite enjoyable, but boozey. These will put you down quickly, but it will be enjoyable!

A: a nice medium toned brew. Pretty

S: piney, citrus, malty on the end

T: Nice. It's not as hoppy as advertised but distinctly bold, flavorful, and smooth. Big taste early, satisfying, no bitter aftertaste.

M: Medium. very smooth. much taste without a great deal of repercussion.

O: One of the best things a beer can do is hide its potency. this beer has great flavor, very high alcohol content, and goes down very, very smooth. My buds and I look for a drinkable, hoppy, high alcohol brew. This beer is that. This beer is hoppy, very powerful, very drinkable, and damn smooth for a 10.8!

I've sort of stopped writing reviews and ticking my hads, but I felt this one was worthy of documenting

A: A nice, clear bronze color, darker than a typical IPA, but not quite as dark as an amber. Thick two finger, foamy eggshell colored head. Very sticky and resinous character clinging to the glass

S: A giant punch of fruity, floral, and piney hops. Simcoe is very present if I'm not mistaken, all the hops blending together to make a remarkable blend that smells the closest to raw hops I've ever experienced from a beer.

T: Follows the nose very well. Huge fruity characteristics and rose like flavors right off the bat, transitions to a harsher, piney bitterness, and then finishes fruity once again. For how potent the flavor is, it is a really well balanced variety of hop flavors.

M: Thicker than average IPAs for sure, but not in a bad way, very sticky med-high carbonation, no alcohol presence despite the very high ABV

Overall this one was outstanding. Probably my favorite beer I've ever had from Stone and quite possibly the best IPA in the world.

A: shiny marmalade body, 1 finger head, amazing lacing!

S: peach, mango, grapefruit, pine, sweet malt, mild tobacco/leather

T: same as nose, sweet candied malt flavor, long pine bitter finish

M: med/heavy, big sticky/oily mouthfeel

O: SUCH A BEAST! Stone crushes these hops and it
is truly a sublime bitter experience.

A: Poured from a bomber into a Sierra Nevada IPA glass. A dark amber color (darker than ruination). Great retention with great lacing. A beautiful looking beer indeed.

S: The smell of orange, grapefruit and pine combine for one truly amazing smell. This beer absolutely reeks!

T: Wow! A hop lover's delight for sure. The Columbus, Centennial and Citra hops smack you right in the face! Not surprising given the 5 pounds of hops per barrel the good people over at Stone used to brew this masterpiece. A strong bitter finish that definitely rivals Green Flash Palate Wrecker.

M: Medium syrupy body with great carbonation.

O: This beer truly is Ruination on steroids! This is an elite DIPA that rank in my top 5, right behind Pliny the Younger, Double Sunshine, Heady Topper and Pliny the Elder.
