Served from tap in to a Trappe Door tulip. Poured a golden yellow-orange with a two finger white head that subsided to a minimal amount very slowly. Maintained excellent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, dark fruit, earth, spice, wood, banana, and very subtle red wine. The flavor was of sweet malt, red wine, oak, spice, earth, and subtle funk. It had a light feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty decent brew. The red wine was the star of the show on this one if I'm honest. Very spicy and earthy which is what you would expect from a red wine. The barrel added a slightly note to it but it definitely was as prominent as the wine itself. Made it very easy to drink for me as I enjoy red wine from time to time. Granted, it wasn't a life changing experience sadly.

Had a couple pours of this tonight at Bier Thirty... Stone Tap Takeover!! This is one of the brews that I wanted to try the most that Stone brought in for the event.

Pours a slightly hazy dark golden.. nice head.

Nose is phenolic and a bit oaky... some pink bubblegum and a nice smack of oak... some lemony hoppiness seems to get lost in the fray.

Flavor has a quite heavy vinous note ... but almost an astringent oakiness too... the oak seems a bit much IMHO.. the base brew is still there showing a good citrus/pineapple hoppiness... and the Belgian notes are alive and well... but for me, the wood and wine seem a bit abrasive.

All and all.. This did not live up to my lofty expectations.. but is still damn good... I may go back to Bown tomorrow just to get a 2nd opinion!

Thanks again Chris and Kammy!! Picture perfect event.
