Served from tap in to a Trappe Door tulip. Poured a golden yellow-orange with a two finger white head that subsided to a minimal amount very slowly. Maintained excellent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, dark fruit, earth, spice, wood, banana, and very subtle red wine. The flavor was of sweet malt, red wine, oak, spice, earth, and subtle funk. It had a light feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty decent brew. The red wine was the star of the show on this one if I'm honest. Very spicy and earthy which is what you would expect from a red wine. The barrel added a slightly note to it but it definitely was as prominent as the wine itself. Made it very easy to drink for me as I enjoy red wine from time to time. Granted, it wasn't a life changing experience sadly.

Poured into proper tulip glassware by Far Bar in DTLA.

A: belgium style to the max - 1 finger white head which settles down to sliver after first couple sips. Crisp / hazy golden orange hue.

S: I have no sense of smell and wife was not there to contribute

T: Grapes (red wine) are bold and very forward. Quite hot on the back end. Sweet maltiness of a Belgium style with heavy tropical fruit notes. Hops are low profile but contribute enough to balance out the vinous character. Oak, vanilla and barnyard notes present. Balanced carbonation makes for crisp and sessionable.

O: interesting beer and fairly tasty. Definitely worth trying as it is a good take on the beer / wine crossover.
