a - poured a three- fingers thick fluffy, off-white head into a snifter that left great lacing and sheeting throughout. the body was a bright amber color.
s - piney with a hint of lemon.
t - piney and spicy.
m - creamy and coating. incredibly quaffable for a 10% DIPA.
o - another good beer from stone but this is probably my least favorite of their anniversary beers. i started drinking them with the 10th anniversary but this doesn't have the same punch or wow that their other special releases get from me. my stone standards are pretty high and this falls just a bit short.

08/22/12 On tap. To me most IPAs are too aggressive. This an exception. It's well balanced as to it's bitterness & the respectable hoppyness. It got a kick with a little burn. Appears to be brewed with me in mind and not the brewers bragging rights. Sue me, but I'll say it anyway...it's got great grownup characteristics.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 22 oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label lists the abv at 10 % and there is a nice discretion of the beer.
Appearance: The beer has a deep honey amber color with a slight haze. It builds a tall just off white head on top which hangs on well and clings to the glass making lots of cool lacing.
Smell: The aroma is full of loads of bright lemony citrus and well...hops. (Classic Stone IPA)
Taste / Palate: The flavor is full of hops from start to finish. First up are the citrus and tropical notes with a spicy malty bready base. This fades into herbal and pine like hop notes with slow fading bitterness in the finish.
Notes: Hang on to the hops roller coaster its going to be a bitter good ride.
