Pours out a hazy light orange-amber color with two finger of soft soapy head that lasts for about six minutes, leaving behind some lovely fine-bubbled lacing curtains on the glass. Medium body and carbonation levels, somewhat sticky texture.
The nose is really quite lemony fresh, which is to be expected given the presence of lemon verbena and lemon oils to the beer. Surrounding the lemon-bomb is a housing built out of spicy / herbal noble hopping working in tandem with a mango-pineapple tropical fruit aroma. But throughout it all, the lemon remains solidly in the forefront. Floral bouquet also appears as the glass warms up.
The flavor is somewhat more grapefruit pith and pine resin focused than the nose was. In fact, sadly, most of the complexity from the nose doesn't show up as an equivalent flavor. All I get at first is a pretty standard herbal tea / leafy hopping in front of a medium-heavy grapefruit / pine and toffee malt standard IPA combo. Once the glass warms up, however, a small lemony flavor presence does appear, but not proportional to the hype expectations built up from the amazing nose. The ABV is very well hidden, though. A bit more peppery spice 'zing' could have helped brighten up the flavor profile a bit IMO.
Better than average, but not amazingly good.

08/22/12 On tap. To me most IPAs are too aggressive. This an exception. It's well balanced as to it's bitterness & the respectable hoppyness. It got a kick with a little burn. Appears to be brewed with me in mind and not the brewers bragging rights. Sue me, but I'll say it anyway...it's got great grownup characteristics.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 22 oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label lists the abv at 10 % and there is a nice discretion of the beer.
Appearance: The beer has a deep honey amber color with a slight haze. It builds a tall just off white head on top which hangs on well and clings to the glass making lots of cool lacing.
Smell: The aroma is full of loads of bright lemony citrus and well...hops. (Classic Stone IPA)
Taste / Palate: The flavor is full of hops from start to finish. First up are the citrus and tropical notes with a spicy malty bready base. This fades into herbal and pine like hop notes with slow fading bitterness in the finish.
Notes: Hang on to the hops roller coaster its going to be a bitter good ride.
