22oz bottle poured into a 25oz snifter, pours a deep copper color with a full beige head that holds good retention and leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aromas are somewhat odd with lemon rind, pine, earthy and spicy from the rye. Tastes are dank, oily hops, lemon, caramel, rye, earthy, almost reminiscent of pinesol, alcohol is well concealed however (I was surprised to see 10% as I was half-way through the bottle). Mouth-feel is medium bodied, resiny, and sticky on the palate, while finishing semi-dry. Overall, I was a a little disappointed in this one. It wasn't bad, just not what I was expecting for an anniversary IPA from Stone.

08/22/12 On tap. To me most IPAs are too aggressive. This an exception. It's well balanced as to it's bitterness & the respectable hoppyness. It got a kick with a little burn. Appears to be brewed with me in mind and not the brewers bragging rights. Sue me, but I'll say it anyway...it's got great grownup characteristics.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 22 oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label lists the abv at 10 % and there is a nice discretion of the beer.
Appearance: The beer has a deep honey amber color with a slight haze. It builds a tall just off white head on top which hangs on well and clings to the glass making lots of cool lacing.
Smell: The aroma is full of loads of bright lemony citrus and well...hops. (Classic Stone IPA)
Taste / Palate: The flavor is full of hops from start to finish. First up are the citrus and tropical notes with a spicy malty bready base. This fades into herbal and pine like hop notes with slow fading bitterness in the finish.
Notes: Hang on to the hops roller coaster its going to be a bitter good ride.
