22 oz bottle.
Appearance: Hard to find much of a fault here. Perfectly clear dark orange color with a big off white head. Good head retention and excellent lacing.
Smell: Very floral. Citrus and pine hops aromas too. Some malt sweetness and light toast in the background.
Taste: Very hoppy with sweet and bitter citrus. Lemon flavor is a little more than subtle, but not overdone. BItter, not sour. Malt flavor has caramel and a spicy kick from the rye. Very dry finish with a little alcohol burn and bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Very well done mouthfeel for a double IPA. Soft and creamy, then dry with a stiff, sticky hops residue.
Overall: Using exotic ingredients is overdone and usually adds little of value to the beer, but its done well here. Very nice DIPA. Would give 4.25.

08/22/12 On tap. To me most IPAs are too aggressive. This an exception. It's well balanced as to it's bitterness & the respectable hoppyness. It got a kick with a little burn. Appears to be brewed with me in mind and not the brewers bragging rights. Sue me, but I'll say it anyway...it's got great grownup characteristics.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 22 oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label lists the abv at 10 % and there is a nice discretion of the beer.
Appearance: The beer has a deep honey amber color with a slight haze. It builds a tall just off white head on top which hangs on well and clings to the glass making lots of cool lacing.
Smell: The aroma is full of loads of bright lemony citrus and well...hops. (Classic Stone IPA)
Taste / Palate: The flavor is full of hops from start to finish. First up are the citrus and tropical notes with a spicy malty bready base. This fades into herbal and pine like hop notes with slow fading bitterness in the finish.
Notes: Hang on to the hops roller coaster its going to be a bitter good ride.
