Batch 3: Enjoy by 12.21.12.
Removed from the fridge and left out for 20 minutes or so before opening.
Bottle finally tracked down with help. Thanks, Jason. This sold out in a few hours in every store I hit -- insane.
A: Pours a clear, golden-peach body with a finger of off-white head. Great retention, leaving substantial sudsing down the sides as it falls into a thin collar. But not much in the way of lace during the drink.
S: Grass and a touch of pine that borders on mint and onion (Nelson, I'm guessing) as well as a lesser citrus punch (pineapple, papaya, tangelo).
T: Pine, grass, a little weed. Pineapple, tangerine, and grapefruit rind. My personal preference would be to see the citrus dominating over the 'green' flavors, but it's tasty as it is. The exhalation produces wisps of onion.
M: This is easily the best aspect of the beer. Pronounced bitterness, but it's not palate-wrecking because the oils clean up at the end of a sip (good carbonation). Despite the ABV, there is no heat. And the body is not syrupy / sugary like some higher-ABV DIPAs / TIPAs tend to be. You won't find any sugar burn on the back end. Very clean. They absolutely nailed this.
O: I saw some comments saying that this batch was more Nelson-dominated than the first one, and I'd have to agree -- the tropical fruit punch aroma and flavor has been dialed back a bit. Just the same, it's a great DIPA. Worth seeking out, though I'm surprised it has gotten quite the hubbub it has.
