This is for the "12.21.12" edition. Bomber dated 11/16/12 poured into Duvel tulip: consumed & reviewed on 11/25.
This edition pours a strawberry-blonde color: inch of head that is snow white. Retention is moderate on this one: lacing is present, and plenty of clous left on the sides of the glass. This offers a lot on the nose: very dank, weedy aroma is what I get, with a bit of sweet malt in the mix (faint bread pudding). Taste offers more of the same: weedy, somewhat bitter on the back end. This is more balanced than I expected: a bit of a sweet finish to balance bitterness. I do get a bit of onion aftertaste, but the note does not detract from the rest of the flavors. The high abv (9.4%) is well hidden.
If you'd have blind folded me, I'd have thought this was the new batch of Lagunitas Sucks. Honestly, almost identical in my palate's memory. A bit pricey, but high quality.
