You have in your hands a devastatingly fresh double IPA. While freshness is a key component of many beers - especially big, citrusy, floral IPAs - we've taken it further, a lot further, in this IPA. You see, we specifically brewed it NOT to last. We've not only gone to extensive lengths to ensure that you're getting this beer in your hands within an extraordinarily short window, we made sure that the Enjoy By date isn't randomly etched in tiny text somewhere on the label, to be overlooked by all but the most attentive of retailers and consumers. Instead, we've sent a clear message with the name of the beer itself that there is no better time than right now to enjoy this IPA.

7/04/14 version enjoyed about 4 weeks before said date...

It's an ever-so-slightly hazed amber orange with a brilliant flare in the body and brightness, mostly transparent. The head shows force and structure, maintaining its finger and a half or so of head for a good while and never dropping very much, keeping up a sticky crown that plasters some nice patching to the glass.
There's a really nice freshness, so to speak, all over this IPA, raw but not unrefined, rustic but not dirty. It's a blend of earthiness with some pretty fresh pine resin, and it mingles nicely with plenty of citrus and some other greener and earthier sorts of fruits. It's also moderately pithy from front to back. This is balanced against enough malts bringing in bread and caramels to keep the hops in focus and up front. It's not as massively deep or fascinating as some of the reviews and ratings would lead me to believe (maybe some versions are?), but there's no doubt this is a great IPA from a brewery that knows IPA.
The mouthfeel has that balance between strength and ease of drinking, brightness and heaviness, crispness and smoothness, and has each of them in measure to make this an easy-drinking but thoughtful brew.

Love the name Enjoy By 07.04.14 (can not get a better date then that)

A - Poured out a crystal clear light golden orange, with a nice white two finger head which leave nice legs.

S - I could smell this bad boy from the moment I poured it two feet away. Smells of pine and citrus, dankness, tangerine, mango, slight caramel notes and a bit alcohol. It tickles the nose slightly.

T - Loads of hops then bitterness, some residual sweetness. I get more dankness on the flavor, with some citrus and resinous pine, then the lingering bitterness comes through and the burning alcohol after it goes down. Quit enjoyable.

M - Soft medium body with a slickness and good amount of carbonation. Leaves relatively dry but does have a nice sweet middle note.

O - Pretty awesome double IPA from Stone. Its great to get a bottle that you know is fresh without having to search for it or gamble on it. If you want a hoppy double IPA that wont disappoint pick this one up soon. Only downfall with this brew is the relatively high price at over 8 dollars, so I had to reduce the overall score from 4.25. Keep making great beer Stone, cheers!
