You have in your hands a devastatingly fresh double IPA. While freshness is a key component of many beers - especially big, citrusy, floral IPAs - we've taken it further, a lot further, in this IPA. You see, we specifically brewed it NOT to last. We've not only gone to extensive lengths to ensure that you're getting this beer in your hands within an extraordinarily short window, we made sure that the Enjoy By date isn't randomly etched in tiny text somewhere on the label, to be overlooked by all but the most attentive of retailers and consumers. Instead, we've sent a clear message with the name of the beer itself that there is no better time than right now to enjoy this IPA.

Enjoy By 12-13-13

Appearance: Really nice golden color with good carbonation and lacing, but little head retention.

Smell: Huge notes of freshly cut grapefruit. Like fresh citrus right off the vine.

Taste: Mimics the aroma quite a bit. Very citrusy/grapefruity. I was surprised by the slightly sweet malty finish, considering Stone's other IPAs.

Mouthfeel: Excellent for an IPA. Light and refreshing but not thin. A little highly carbonated for my taste, but that does add to the refreshing quality considering this is a high abv beer.

Overall: Amazing. I was shocked to see this in stock at my little liquor store in IL, and couldn't be happier I grabbed it. I'll be going back shortly to buy them out. A great, fresh IPA that's refreshing, citrusy and not ridiculously bitter. Try it if you have the chance! (818 characters)

Pours golden orange yellow with light sticky lacing that hangs around for a while.

Dank piney and citrusy hops are quite abundant, the hop resin sticks in the nose and slight caramel to note as well.

Pineapple, orange, mango, cantaloupe and an array of other tropical flavors explode over a muted caramel malt backbone.

Mouthfeel is thick and sticky with plenty of hop bite for any hop fiend to enjoy.

Overall, one of Stone's best and a favorite of mine. (458 characters)

Enjoy by 12.13.13 bomber. Lots of resiny smell, fresh thick hops, dry intense grapefruit aromas, colour is a bright clear gold, plenty of carbonation but the smoothest mouthfeel and no hint of alcohol, this is really awesome, smooth balanced profile, tons of hop character. Really well constructed IIPA and just an amazingly fresh tasty beer. Pleasant dry finish and a quenching juicy drinkability. (398 characters)

a - poured a two-fingers thick tan head into a snifter that left great lacing throughout. the body was a crystal clear amber color. i don't think i've ever seen a DIPA so bright.
s - piney hops with some floral aromas fighting through.
t - piney, citrusy, and floral as well with some breadiness and a hint of honey sweetness.
m - medium and finishes incredibly clean.
o - stupendous and delicious. (417 characters)

12.13.13 edition poured into a goblet

Pours a transparent golden sunset color with about a finger of white head that retains well. The smell is that of dank, oily, earthy hops, a bit of onion, lemon, grapefruit, and orange peel. The smell is amazingly fresh, so I would say Stone succeeded in what they set out to do. The taste follows the nose, delivering a resinous, mouth-coating blast of bitterness right up front along with grapefruit and orange notes. There is also a weird onion taste that detracts from the quality of the beer, but it's not overwhelming. The finish is dry and unapologetically bitter, leaving a tingling in the back of my throat. (655 characters)

Amazing IPA. Extremely fresh and full of citrus hops. As fresh as you can get out a bottle. Initial taste is full of fresh grapefruit, pineapple, and a bit of orange hops. Carbonation is absolutely perfect. The beer is so fresh tasting that it gives you quenching like taste. (275 characters)

Enjoy by 12.13.13, which means bottled 11.08.13 (so a month old).
Grapefruit dominates, along with pine. Not as tropical as you might expect from a SoCal IPA. A little bit of skunkiness. In the finish, that oily sensation from too much hops, medium finish. Bitterness lingers. It's a good beer, and fresh, but it's a bit too harsh for me. I might try this again though if I can get it under 2 weeks old. (403 characters)

This is the 12.13.13 variation of this beer. 22 oz. bomber poured into Stone pint glass.

A: Pours a slightly chill-hazed bright orange/gold. Head is one finger and white. It doesn't last extremely long, but there are islands of thin, white head throughout. Good lacing.

S: Wow...the smell is truly amazing...one of the best IPAs I've ever smelled. EXTREMELY strong dank, grapefruit smell. Lots of blood orange and mango, too. There are even hints of marijuana present....truly a hop-heads dream smell.

T: Taste is full on hop assault. Extremely dank, yet extremely fruity. Grapefruit, marijuana, mango, orange, pineapple, and a touch of mint on the end. Zero bitterness and only the absolute minimum amount of malt that lets the hops shine through. Really one of the best IPAs I've ever tasted.

M: Medium body. Oily...slick. Not much carbonation. Perfect mouthfeel that allows the hop onslaught to stick around for what seems like forever.

O: Easily one of the top 5 IPAs I've had (and I've had a lot of the "best" IPAs available.) Lots of depth, fairly easy to acquire, great price, and a perfect indicator of when to drink this amazing beer! (1,151 characters)

A - Poured a clear golden amber with a white frothy head that sticks around the entire time. A gorgeous looking beer.

S - Citrus hits you right away, a nice fresh hop aroma.

T - A touch of bitterness, I get some pine from the hops here.

M - A medium bodied beer with lots if carbonation.

O - An excellent DIPA, I can't believe I've waited this long to have one. It is well balanced, you have no idea it is 9+ abv. (422 characters)

I went to a craft beer market, ask a staff for the best IPS he ever had, the guy didn't even blink and grab me this Stone IPA Enjoy By 12-12-13, pour with a nice inch foam, light orange color, floral aroma that I really enjoy it, first it had bitter taste, but in a good way, smooth finished. (292 characters)

Maybe the prettiest IPA I've ever seen: absolutely transparent, beautiful golden color, small head that dissipates but I'm still pretty psyched about the color and clarity of this beer. Smell is massive grapefruit hops, some citrus, random hints of random fruits. Insane hop flavor right away! Heavy floral hops, then grapefruit, then citrus, then the massive bittering kicks in. Absolutely coats the mouth. The bitterness is a little higher than I usually like but the fresh hop character is astounding. Aside from the lingering bitterness, the finish is really crisp and dry on this - I just realized this is 9.4% abv and now I'm even more impressed. Way too easy to drink considering its strength. It's easy to love stronger ales but this one really deserves it. (765 characters)

Had on tap on 11/21/13 at Stone's bar in the San Diego Airport. I'm unsure of what the "Enjoy By" date is.

Appearance: Clear golden color, good white head, minimal lacing

Smell: Very fruity and citrusy, very fragrant

Taste: Again, fruity, citrusy, lighter on malt than I would have expected. No indication of the abv. Complex, yet very drinkable

Mouthfeel: Medium body, good carbonation, exactly what I expect from Stone for this style

Overall: Excellent, and a little different than you typical Stone brew. Focuses on the aromatic side of hops, instead of cramming bitterness down your throat. Very enjoyable, and I think they are targeting Pliny the Elder with this one. Can't say which I would rather have, but they are both world class. (745 characters)

Stone Brewing Enjoy by 10.25.13 IPA

Appearance: pale amber, small head, and some light lacing.

Smell: heavy hops, light grapefruit, and a faint lemon.

Taste: mellow bitter hops and a light grapefruit.

Mouthfeel: incredible and bitter.

Overall:
The aroma is potently hop but once it touches your tongue, the feel gives you a slight bite, finishing with a smoothness. This is very well balanced. The taste seems subdued compared to the aroma. (449 characters)

One of the best DIPA's I've ever had. One of the best beers I've ever had; it really is quite amazing. Tried the 12/13/13 and it was 10/10 honestly. Ingeniously fresh with an amazing hoppy flavor, bitter but not overly bitter at all. Perfect. Not a single hint of the 9.4 ABV. Not quite sure on the IBU's but either way, it is everything you could ask for in a beer. Good job Stone, good job. (392 characters)

Stone Enjoy by 11 12 13

A- Fantastic light copper/golden look.

S- Piney, tropical, citrus, perfect smelling DIPA

T- Slight hop bitterness up front fading into citrus, tropical taste. A very refreshing DIPA

M- Light bodied, very clean, crisp feel. This is a 9.4% beer, but does not drink like it. Very smooth.

O- I get the enjoy by every time I see it. This is in my top 5 DIPA's ever and I like the fact it is very easy to get throughout the year. I put the enjoy by up there with Dogfish Head Burton Baton and Coast breweries Boyking. A phenomenal beer. (559 characters)

I'll start but saying that this brew is a deal on wheels. Very affordable big batch brew that has most of the bells and whistles of a special release ipa

Pours out a hazy war of orange and yellow - nice and clear enough to see right thru

Aroma is hops at first followed by vegetal notes. A lil bit of old lemon and awesome onion

Taste is much the same - hop sweetness at first very refreshing if your thirsty - bitterness comes from over hopping- malts are there just adding to the sweetness of this brew

Not really a full bodied beer this goes down quick - I'm not sharing this bomber! Carbonation is pleasing as you quaff down big sips of this brew

Overall I'm really into this brew - the hop bill is overkill but that's ok by me - this DIPA could hang with some of the big boys - but very rough around the edges and not really refined -

Last note. A lot of these have tasted the same to me - with the exception of enjoy by they made after releasing they're session IPA - that one seemed very weak. So weak I was almost done looking for this beer. I'm glad I gave it another go around (1,098 characters)

One of my new favorite series, a big, bold and fresh IPA. Citrus plays second fiddle to strong earthy Flavors. A well hidden 9.4% ABV makes this a must seek and buy~ (283 characters)

Stone Enjoy By 12-13-13

This is hands down by far the best beer I have had from Stone. An absolutely delicious double IPA! A beautiful golden brew that just glows in the light. Fantastic clarity and a nice white head. Showing a good amount of carbonation some pretty steady bubble streams. The aroma of this beer screams hops. Very resiny hoppy aroma kinda skunky but it's absolutely bloody brilliant. The taste goes right along with the nose. This is just a delicious hop bomb with tons and tons of hop presence but it's not excessively bitter. My kind of beer. This is delicious hop nectar.

Edit: This was so good I went out and bought another.. Second one wasn't cold when i bought it but at $6 a bottle it seemed like a steal. Tasted like soapy shit. Moral of the story this thing spoils quick way before the enjoy by date if its not cold. Plus, when this brew goes bad it goes really really fucking bad! Had the second one on 11-18-13 and it had already spoiled (12-13-13 IPA). (984 characters)

Reviewing the 12/13/13. Aroma: Very herby, slightly metallic, resinous and skunky. Appearance: clear gold, little carbonation and nearly any foam. Very dry, off bitterness. notes of cinnamon, spice, herbs, resin and biscuit are available. Not too much citrus available. Overall, one of the more basic/standard Enjoy By's I have experienced. Not bad. Bitter, alcohol filled, dry. (378 characters)

This is one of my favorite IPA's. This was a good one, but I'm still searching for that first time. This is still a great IPA. Meant to drink fresh, can't get any better.

A - Clear and fresh looking with a nice 1 inch foamy head. Golden clear liquid.

S - Smell is amazing with fruits hops pine, citrus, tropical fruits.

T - Taste is much the same with upfront fruits some Apricot and honey. The hoppiness onslaught comes after the initial taste. Outstanding Taste, very refreshing.

M - Light bodied imperial IPA at 9.4%. (596 characters)

22 oz bottle poured into a Stone IPA specialty glass.

A - A very nice golden clear pour with a nice 1 inch head.

S - So fresh. Smells so piney with a hit of tropical fruit. Absolutely love it.

T - Hits you with a very bitter taste which is followed by a very fruity flavor. Finishes a bit sweet, but the bitter taste lingers for a while. Fantastic.

M - Very smooth and crisp.

O - A fantastic Double IPA. Try all of Stone's "Enjoy By" IPAs if you can get your hands on it. BevMo (west coast) sells them for about $6.49/bottle. It's an absolute steal.

22 oz bottle, 12.13.13, consumed 5 days after bottling, poured into DFH IPA glass. Have enjoyed this many times before, but owe it the full review.

Pours a clear golden body with 100% clarity, a big frothy head of medium and large-sized bubbles, with great retention and lacing, a gorgeous pour.

Smell is very west-coast IPA, with heavy pine needle notes, grapefruit and citrus, floral, somewhat but not overly sweet and malty on the nose.

Taste is bitter right up front with a wave of pine needle hop flavor followed closely by juicy grapefruit and citrus notes, bitterness lingers throughout, sweetness on the back end is evident, not bready though, no alcohol burn to speak of, and bitter aftertaste on the follow-through. Great balance.

Mouthfeel is clean, crisp, moderately carbonated, smooth but not creamy, sticky and dry finish.

Overall, this is one of the best DIPAs out there and for the price point there are really few, if any, which are better options. Drink this as fresh as possible, the hop flavor is beautiful and balances the bitterness, which is necessary given the heavy malt backbone. This is Stone's best beer, for sure. (1,147 characters)

Enjoy By 11.12.13

Appearance - A clear golden amber color. Strong pour yielded a 1/2 finger head that dissipated quickly. There was minimal lacing while drinking

Smell - Very hoppy / bitter smell. Fresh cut grass and oranges.

Taste - The taste is quite bitter. Slight grapefruit and no malt flavor at all - this doesn't seem very balanced to me.

Mouthfeel - Medium to high carbonation and the warmth of the alcohol comes through.

Overall - Compared to other IPAs I have had, this one is a bit heavy handed with the amount of bitterness present. I would have preferred some malt characteristics and tropical fruit. Probably wont seek this one out again. (657 characters)
