Surprisingly more minty than I had imagined it would be, having aged it for two years. Very, very little head (less than a centimeter), but decent carbonation and a clean malty flavor which hides the alcohol content (9.6%) well. Nicely reminiscent of Andes mints... I honestly thought this would be a very gimmicky beer, but this turned out quite delicious.

12 oz bottle purchased in 2012 and cellared since. Poured into a Founders snifter.

Appearance: Pours black with about a finger of a tan head that dissipates to a thick ring and some wispy coating. Body is opaque.

Smell: Chocolate, roasted malt, mint, coffee. Mint intensifies as the beer warms.

Taste: Follows the aroma closely. Mint, roasted malt, and bitter dark chocolate. Like the aroma, the mint intensifies the more the beer warms.

Mouthfeel: Light side of full bodied with a somewhat creamy mouthfeel and medium gentle carbonation.

Overall: As it was back in 2012, this is still a good beer. The mint, which I thought was a bit overpowering when this was fresh, has mellowed nicely, so I'd say overall this has benefited from some age.

Purchased 2012. Pours a deep black with a razor thin tan head. Has a rich chocolate dark roasted caramel malt nose, with some dark fruity notes and slight licorice sweet bitter flavor on the end. The palate is a full rich creamy body with good carbonation, a bit of sticky mouth feel. The finish is sweet chocolate, roasted caramel malt, some mild mint flavor shows up as it warms up, has a lingering kind of sweet chocolate roasted bitterness on the end. Was expecting a bit more mint but could be the aging. Overall a good drinking tasty and full flavored brew.
