On tap at The Attic last year. Notes are fresher than my memory.

This brew is a deep, clear amber-orange in color. It grows a strong head off the tap that rests a finger and a half tall. It sits like a craggy pillow and drops to a finger at a moderate pace, leaving behind thin but steady patchy lacing beneath a fairly thick ring.
I remember loving what they did with this, a unique beer that wasn't nearly so muddled as the other 16th anny version I had. The nose doeesn't quite pour out with the hoppy base, but it's the first on the tongue, making itself known as the carrier for the additional flavors rather than the other way around. Big pine and grapefruit notes balance lemon and a sharp but bright and crisp acidity. The verbana seems to add a bit of perfume that doesn't come in too hard. The herbal element is so much leafy as almost lightly spicy. The balance is excellent as well, with some caramel balancing the hard bitterness and the breads smoothing the flavor out a bit while the hops still come hard. Overall the exceptional juiciness that's so unique makes this a pleasure to drink.
This beer flows nicely, not creamy with the juicier aspect but certainly smooth, with lots of crispness to boot in a firm medium body.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter
A: Hazy amber color with a one-finger head that settles to a lacing; a fair amount of carbonation
S: Tons of lemon oil and candied lemon with tart citrus hops underneath along with some herbs/spices and a hint of malt
T: The nose was promising and while the palate isn't bad, it's a little disappointing. The 'lemon oil' comes through a bit too strong where I was expecting more of a sorachi ace hop profile. I hate to pull the "Pine-sol" card but I feel I must. There still is an enjoyable earthiness to it underneath the lemon oil
M: Medium-bodied; the oiliness overtakes the crispness/carbonation I can tell is there but can't quite come through all the way
O: While this differed from my expectations and is far from my favorite Stone beer, I can't say it's bad by any means- it evolved from start to the finish keeping my attention and I polished off every last drop.

Poured from a 22 oz bomber into a Samuel Adams pint glass. Purchased at Wakefield Liquors in Wakefield, RI

A- Pours a golden yellow, slightly hazy body with a medium off-white head with high retention.

S- Grass, citrus, resin, soap, yeast.

T- Upfront I get some big lemony-citrus notes. Ends piney and bitter, slightly skunky. I'm not sure how I feel about the malt/hop balance here, as well as the upfront lemon flavor.

M- Quite astringent, slightly carbonated. Medium body.

Overall I was only mildly pleased with this brew. The hop character dominates and doesn't quite blend with the big lemon notes. Stick with Ruination.

Second bottle of 16th Anniversary from Stone and really love this beer. A quick look at BA and... it seems I'm in the minority. So be it.

Sunset orange ale in the glass with yellow highlights around the edge. Creamy fluff for a head that lingers for a long time. Assertive nose of grapefruit, clear lemon, full spice and toasted malt. Taste is sharply acidic and full bodied. Rye from the description shows up as a lingering spice on the tongue. This IPA fills the mouth with malt and spice that doesn't disappear. Along with the nose, it's a full experience. According to Stone, lemon verdena is in this beer, a lemon scented herb (I didn't know).

I have a weakness for lemongrass and lemon beers, so this one is no different. I enjoy it a lot. My buddy Al likes it better than some of the BA reviews as well, so I'll stand with Al.

Two finger head on a clear amber with golden hues body. Aroma is that of a fruity IPA with grapefruit and orange peel mixed with lemon nestea. Flavor is similar to cardomnum actually with lemon only there as a hint. The IPA flavors are very hoppy with pine, floral and tart fruit. Medoum body and moderate carbonation. Nice zesty flavors with this a nice IPA overall. Not super special or memorable but worth having.

Poured from the bottle a slightly hazed orange color with two fingers of off-white head.

Aroma of lemon and herbal notes along with bready malts.

The taste brought out the lemon and piney hops plus a nice malty bite for balance. A moderately bitter bite to the finish. The 10% abv was surprisingly well-hidden.

Medium bodied with a moderate carbonation.

Very nice. A quality IPA from the folks at Stone.

Poured from 22oz bomber into a dimpled mug. At 10% ABV, this surely qualifies as a DIPA rather than a regular ol' IPA, no?

Appearance: rich orange hue with a light haze and a very light effervescence. head pours two thick fingers of frothy ivory foam with a bit of an orange cast. Looks like quite a decent IPA!

Smell: lightly sweet malt aroma with a bit of a toasty character. Hops are very citrus-oriented and there is a hint of lemony goodness there. At first I didn't love it, but it has kind of grown on me; it's subtle without being underpowered.

Taste: citrusy, piney and resiny hops sit atop a pretty strong and sticky malt backbone. Bitterness is pretty high, but not destructively so. A decent citrusy IPA.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation; it's quite creamy for the style. I like it.

Overall: a good-drinkin' citrusy IPA. I think the lemony qualities might be hiding some of the alcohol content, because this is much more quaffable than its killer ABV would indicate.

On cask at Haven Gastropub in Pasadena, CA.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy tan head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, herbal hops, lemon, and herbs. Taste is much the same with a slight onion flavor and an alcohol kick. There is a medium herbal hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink but the mouthfeel is not that good on this one.
