Poured in a plastic pint glass at the San Diego Zoo; definitely civilized when you can get a Stone at the zoo!
A – Small tan head resolves after a few minutes with a small amount of lacing; pours a deep brown clear ale.
S – The nose is dominated by toasty malts and has an undercurrent of pine hops.
T – The best way to describe how it tastes is “very well balanced”: a mild shot of citrus hops is overtaken by solid toasty malts leaving a slight ongoing bitterness. Not much else I could find.
M – It’s moderately carbonated and medium bodied. No really booziness or warmth.
D – This beer is practically the definition of drinkable; nicely balanced, tasty and with the right amount of thirst quenching power.
A very solid session beer in the mold of Brooklyn Lager and Sierra Nevada Pale; I’d drink this again and again at the Zoo! (And elsewhere!)
