So the wife loves this beer and after a day at the Public House knocking a few back she wanted to pick up a 6er on the way home. $10/ea - youch!

A: Pours a much darker pale color - more of an amber. Definite mahogany and ruby tints that soften when held to the light. Thin tan head capped my pint glass with a large amount of lacing present.

S: Smells of sweet bready malts with some light nutty aromas. Noticeable spicy hop notes with some light citrus undertones.

T: Biscuity/Bready malts dominate however bittered quite nicely. Herbal and spicy citrus hop flavors present but this pale ale is definitely more malt pronounced. Clean flavors and fresh ingredients really shine here though. Finishes very dry and crisp. Refreshing.

M: Great texture with a smooth creaminess combined with a great hop bitterness that peppers the palate a bit.

D: Highly quaffable session ale for sure. Sippin in the San Diego sun.

Not my personal favorite take on the style but very well crafted and balanced none the less. Very appealing to both malt and hop lovers. Has almost a hoppy brown ale characteristic. Closer to a little Arrogant Bastard rather than the IPA in my opinion. Very sessionable. I just dont get the price point here. I mean I am a local to Stonebrew yet I can get a 6er of Lagunitas IPA or NB Ranger IPA for cheaper than their Pale? Explain that logic.

A friend bought this beer for me; instead of my all-time favorite STONE IPA. The beer was subtle, and enjoyable, but still not comparable to there IPA.

Appearance: A nice(darker) golden-brown.
Smell: Aroma, was that of an ale... Nice beer smell.
Taste: Subtle, lightly distinctful. Above average; but not "wow".
Mouthfeel: enjoyable.

A - Murky copper gold with nice little white head.

S - fruit and bread malt with some hops.

T - Very balanced. Semi sweet malt with a slightly bitter hop finish. Orange peel.

M - Pleasantly over carbonated meets the malt medium body well.

O - Balanced feel and taste. Not over powering in any way but still packs a good amount of flavor and character. Something to drink when I'm tired of IPAs.

12oz. bottle poured into a pint glass.

A: Dark copperish amber hue with a slightly off-white head that starts at nearly two fingers, but fades down to a creamy cap. Nice silky white lacing left behind. The cap retains wonderfully, fortified by dozens of carbonation bubble rising wildly to the top.

S: Aroma is a little clean, which is a bit of a surprise from Stone. What I do pick up is caramel and bready malts with some light citrus highlights and a little bit of flowery hop. I'm a fan of of powerful, knock-your-socks-off aromas, but I'm sure this would appeal to anyone a fan of the style as well as those into less in-your-face brews.

T: A well-balanced pale ale. Caramel malts and some toasted bread play nicely with the slightly reserved citrus hops. It's a bit of a game of flavor tug-o-war with neither side winning. Remains nicely in the middle. The aftertaste here is gorgeous as well—some bready malt with floral hops and a touch of bitterness.

M: Definitely the gold star aspect of this brew—the mouthfeel. A bit above medium-body, feels heavier than 5.4% ABV. Tons of creaminess with a perfect level of carbonation that's neither subdued nor demanding attention. Don't let this fool you, however... This brew is extremely quaffable and would be a breeze to session.

O: Pale ales, in all honesty, are not my style. I prefer much brasher flavors that favor one side rather than being perfectly balanced. Even with that being said, Stone, with their Pale Ale, delivers a wonderful drinking experience that proves that not all of their beers will send the faint of heart cowering away with their tail between their legs. A wonderfully balanced brew that drinks extremely easily as has become a top-contender for my summertime session choice. I look forward to spending many nights with friends on my couch, a bottle of this in my glass, and the Phillies on my tube.
