04/05/13 On tap. Once again something tagged a "pale ale" hits my taste buds with a solid shot of hoppiness. This time I'm disinclined to forgive. Why is this not an IPA? The IBU is in the 25-50 range (if you believe in such things) but my tongue says "Bull-Donkey". Something's gotta give. So glad to have notes at BeerMenus & Beer Advocate so I don't make this mistake again.
Mind you, I'm just not that fond of hops so this may appeal to those that are. Go figure!

A: Pours a clear reddish orange in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass with some light golden orange highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense foamy beige head that slowly reduces to . Significant amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of caramel malts and citrus/orange zest hops.
T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of caramel malts with a light amount of sweetness. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of citrus/orange zest and pine/resin hops. The hops impart a light to moderate amount of bitterness which does not linger for too long.
M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp but slightly thin.
O: Easy to drink and refreshing with well hidden alcohol. It is flavorful and must have been pretty intense when it was initially released though there are a lot of very flavorful beers in the APA style now available and this one is not quite as intense as some of the newer entrants.
