Probably my favorite ipa, only now getting around to reviewing it
bottle with a 11/1 enjoy by date into a pint glass

Pours a dark gold with a silk white finger and a half of head. Retains quite well, laces beautifully down the glass. At the end of the beer I was able to see where I took each sip on the inside of the glass. Holding it up into the light there are tiny suspended shards of hops, mildly filtered. Mild carbonation spaced evenly along the inside of the glass.

Smell of strong hops, grapefruit, pine, some citrus, a hint of juniper, and some alcohol. Very mild malts in the background break through despite the potency of everything above. One of the best smelling beers I've had

The beer wastes no time and throws a huge hop flavor up front. Grapefruit, citrus, a nice tropical tinge peak through the after taste. Modest malts are nicely represented but the hops are what really take the spot light. With 77 ibus this is one of the stronger ipas I'm aware of, and is guaranteed not to be touched by anyone but myself at a party. Needless to say, not for people who aren't familiar with craft beer

Mouth feel doesn't disappoint either. Bitterness is upfront and wastes no time over whelming the palate. The carbonation is strong enough to give my tongue a tingle but not enough to distract or cover any of the flavor. Very dry finish, very drinkable

Overall this is one of my staple beers. It's cheap and holds over my hop fix between the couple double ipas I get each week. Something I do and will continue to buy often, this is my bench mark for west coast ipas

Served from 22 oz bottle into a pilsner glass.

A - Straw-colored, slightly hazy body. The head is thick and white. This is the way an IPA should look!

S - Orange, grass and spring flowers. Just a hint of pine and hemp.

T - Much like the smell, but more pungent. The orange and floral notes work in perfect harmony, with the semi-sweet crackery malt keeping everything in rhythm. The finish has more hoppy flavors and some assertive, but refreshing, bitterness.

M - A smooth mouthfeel to go with a medium body. Carbonation is near perfect.

O - A fantastic IPA. When enjoyed fresh, it's one of the best widely-distributed single IPAs around. If the six-pack weren't $12, this would be my go-to beer without a doubt.

There may be no other IPA that so confidently displays what it means to be "west coast". Its premier and dedicated focus on hop bitterness is supported by the perfect type of barley malt- the nonexistent type!

Its nose-piercing scent of hops take center stage with the strong presence of white grapefruit, tangy orange peel, fresh-cut grass and an overall aura of resinous pine. And upon the first drink, the mouth dries and waters at the same time; contending with the full brunt of hop flavor and yearning for refreshment.

The middle offers up a malty-dry taste and texture that's of faint caramel and thin honey, but with a wafer-thin light bread texture. As the palate acclimates to the tongue-sweating hop dominance, its floral and fruity periphery show fleeting glimpses.

As the bottom falls out of the malts, its sweetness recedes quickly and allows the hops to develop into a smoothly resinous bittering, that intensifies to the proportions of freshly torn pine needles, bark and sap. Still, its pithy citrus sharpness ensures a high level of refreshment and drinkability as the ale concludes with resolute dryness.
