I LOVE Stone. Nearly every beer they make is amazing. I am not sure I have ever had a beer they made that wasn’t just incredible. I have had this beer before, and being that I LOVE a good IPA, I have managed to find and order this time and time again. I prefer it on draft, but the point of this blog is not beers on tap, rather in the bottle. Anyway, let’s make our way through this tasty brew,
In the Glass: It looks like an IPA. Most of their beers appear more heavy in the glass and have a certain home brew look to them. Anyone that makes their own beer knows what I am talking about it. Regardless, it’s a good looking beer in the glass. There is little to no head, which is fine by me. Think barleywine.
Nose: It smells like an IPA! Actually, it smells like an IPA with a hint of orange. Not sure where that orange scent is coming from, but it gives it a certain “wetness” to the nose. We are drinking this beer cold, too, which is not how I would typically prefer an IPA. I like them halfway from fridge to room temperature for the true flavors. Speaking of flavor…
Flavor: Whoa! As I said, I have had this beer before. But here, drinking with purpose, I am able to enjoy it and take a little more out of it. The bitterness that you demand from a good IPA is immediately noticed when you take a sip of this beer. The way it dances across your tongue on the way down just begs me to take another sip. You swallow, and while the aftertaste (we’ll get to that) isn’t what you desire, it still tastes amazing.
Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel is quick, wet, and cold. Of course, that’s because I am drinking the beer cold… but you get the idea. It has a hint of carbonation to it, but not too much to make you put the glass down. The best part of the mouthfeel is the end, when the beer is gone yet the flavors are still all over the palate. That is when you know you have a good brew.
Aftertaste: The aftertaste is not what you expect from a beer with this much flavor. It’s there, and it lasts for a while but it’s nothing to write home about. It’s clean, crisp, and the subtle bitterness toward the end lingers for a while. It’s not one of those aftertastes that makes me want to stop and smell the roses, if you know what I mean. Regardless, this is a great beer, one that is easy to find, and is not very expensive. I will order this time and time again. Bottoms up people!

This is my favorite IPA and a goto beer for me.
Pour - excellent voluminous, frothy pour; leaving a gorgeous three finger, frothy, sea foam head.
Appearance - Very nice, clear amber. Lacing is outstanding.
Nose - The nose is not powerful, but does bring up a nice light grapefruit/pine/resin scent.
Taste - Yummy. Not thick and or over the top; but rather a perfect balance. Ruby Red grapefruit juice, pine resin, yummy sweet malt.
Finish - perfect. Bitter, long lasting, citrus sour.
This is truly a world class beer.
