I've been married for 13 days now and my wife finally made her first mistake. I bought a bomber of Stone IPA, put it in the freezer and had to run an errand. I told her in 15 minutes to take it out of the fridge. Needless to say I had a beer slushy, she forgot of course. However, It recovered in 15 minutes and it's ready to go.

Poured into a tall pilsner glass.

Appearance-Body is the color of honey. Pretty hazy with a 2 finger off white head. Lots of sticky lacing, very nice. This may be the first time to have Stone's IPA not out of the bottle, and it looks great.

Smell-Hops aren't coming out as much as I remembered. Some nice grapefruit and lemon aroma, along with some pine.

Taste-Very bitter hops. Pine upfront, spicey and hot. Finish is rather smooth with some nice citrus.

Mouthfeel-Creamy, smooth, refreshing. Medium bodied with perfect carbonation. Very easy to drink. Bitterness does not linger which makes this nice for a beginner.

Overall-Great IPA. The Dry-Hopping aroma doesn't shine as much as I'd like on this bottle, but this is a very nice beer with excellent drinkability.

P: Served on-tap @ Sugar Maple on 6-27-08 and presented in a pint glass.

A: Pours a pale copper color with a thin, eggshell-colored head with good retention.

S: Subtle hoppy aroma with hints of pine and citrus.

T: Opens with floral hops and spice, followed by a malty middle punctuated with notes of pine and citrus rind. Finishes crisp and dry.

A well-balanced IPA offering, but too subtle in character to be considered distinctive of the style. Not in the same echelon as Furious & Masala Mama.

M: Medium-bodied and moderately carbonated.

D: Good.

12 oz. bottle. across the board consistency.

a-beautiful deep golden ipa that is quite clear. i love the head...looks like i just plopped some pancake batter into the griddle. thick, white popping bubbles.

s-piney attack in the nose. very resin-y. i love the assertiveness.

t-full, well-rounded ipa i would expect...but there is a crispness that adds points. i almost taste juniper...

m-perfect. thick. thin. thick. thin. neither. both. carbonation is simply where it should be. not flat. not sparkly. where it seems thick, it's fluid....where it's thin, it's heavy, deep...what balance!

d-101%. more sips suggest insane food pairings: calamari, garlic gread, etouffe, oysters and tabasco...throw out the dixie, please...

Hmmm... I love the Stone products I've been able to get my hands on. Brought this one back from Batavia, New York when I was up there.

Pours a very pale yellow. The color is a shade above Budweiser. ALOT of carbonation in this one. Poured down the side of the glass slowly, and this one still bubbled over. Smell was slightly underwhelming. Some citrus and hops, but it was relatively subdued. Taste was overly hoppy and was not as balanced as I was hoping for. Mouthfeel was too bubbly for an IPA. Overall, this is an average IPA at best, and definitely not one of Stone's best offerings.
