22 oz. bottle brought back from visit to Southeast. Freshness dated, "enjoy by 02/05/11," bottled 90 days prior on 12/05/10 -- exactly a year ago. Poured into tulip glass.

A: Very cloudy light amber; persistent effervescence; 1-1/2" white head that falls quickly and leaves hardly any lacing on glass sides, but a white slick and white solids on surface.

S: Grapefruit is up front; some lemon and underlying malt sweetness.

T: Sharp, juicy citrus and pine; smooth caramel malt; growing bitterness that lingers with pine resin flavor.

M: Medium body and medium/high carbonation; creamy; dry finish; slight alcohol warming.

O: Surprising presence of hops after a full year in the bottle. I'll look forward to tasting a fresher example of this hop-forward West Coast I.P.A. More difficult to obtain since Stone dropped distribution in WI last May. Complex and delicious.

This is an excellent IPA and I look forward to finishing the remainder of the 6-pack. I poured the 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass and took note of the nice foamy head -- about an inch in all. The beer is amber-colored.

As others have written, it is a very well-hopped IPA with a nice citrus aroma and taste. I actually did not find it all that bitter, but my taste buds are used to drinking beers in this genre. In any case, I found the hops to be sufficiently balanced to take the most bitter edge off of the hops. It still tilts generously towards the hops, but it has a very pleasing taste.

A - Golden brown color, and very hazy. Great head retention and frothy lacing that sticks to the glass nicely.

S - Tons of resiny, piney hops, and strong citrus overtones. Reminds me of DFH 60M Minute with lots of grapefruit. I also smell some fresh bread, too. Really digging this. Smells like it's true to it's name: how hoppy can we brew a beer?

T - Really refreshing IPA with an outstanding hoppy bite. Tons of bitter citruses (lemon), as well as a cranberry aftertaste (really subtle). This is a huge flavored IPA.

M - Nice balance of carbonation and malt-smoothness. A resin aftertaste gives a big, sticky mouthfeel, which may turn off some - but, we're drinking a big IPA here, what did you expect?

O - This is a great effort from Stone. This is right up there with DFH in terms of my favorite IPAs - big hoppy flavors, tons of citrus, and a nice refreshing malt-y finish with a good carbonation balance. Excellent brew.
