Pours a dark gold with a nice, fluffy white head. Nose is of citrus and floral hops. Taste is quite bitter along with citrus and floral notes blending together quite well, with the floral notes taking the lead--very nice in the sense that it's different from many of the better IPA's, which are typically loaded solely with citrus. Great carbonation and excellent drinkability.

A – Brassy gold, nice head. It outta be in pictures…

S – Dank, resiny hops. Very promising.

T – Okay, a bit unexciting. The bitterness is not dynamic either. Smells better than it tastes.

M – Thin and a bit too astringent.

D – I would go for something else, generally.

Brilliant yellow, and I mean yellow snow yellow. Chill hazed with a cakey, puffy white head. Sheets of lace that are quite pretty and a sight for sore eyes. Ring solid lacing.

What I smell is not extreme that's for sure. Floral with solid citrus backbone. Lemon and grapefruit. A little mowing, fresh grass cuttings.

Citrus rind and piney bitterness. Fairly one-dimensional but done well. Mirrors the nose. A fruity, honey'd finish. the bitterness hits more up front and it finishes sweeter with not much lingering bitterness. Apricot, green apple.

Velvety soft. Not much carbonation feeling on the tongue.

A bomber is tasty, I'd come back to it if I knew I was buying very fresh beer. This seemed like it had too much age on it for an IPA.

A: Beautiful head, pours golden/orange hue. Lacing is very nice & carbonation appears very lively. She looks like she's ready to go!

S: Hops, floral, also getting something sweet (maybe honey?). All in all, a nice smelling brew.

T: Wow, this is one fine tasting brew. Very smooth yet complex on the tongue. As expected, hops dominate (a good thing!!), but with some sweet tastes. A sweet grapefruit would be a good way to describe the overall taste.

M: Perfectly carbonated, very smooth; warm but no overpowering alcohol feel. Perfect on the palate.

D: This is a no-brainer drink anytime brew from the guys @ Stone. Not as many complex flavors as say Ruination, but at 1/2 the price, I'm on my way to get more!!

Pours a clear golden orange with a frothy head and great lacing.

Hop aroma is strong and citrusy. Earthy, piney notes are also upfront and the malt sweetness is present in the nose.

Bitter straightforward hops are the profile of this IPA. Good balance though, and the finish is dry and quenching.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a medium to soft carbonation. Very drinkable and recommended highly.

Enjoy by date of 2-28-10. Super aggressive pour from a twelve ounce bottle, yields a massive two finger, white foamy head, with decent lacing that sticks around for awhile.
Smells heavily of citrus, pine and subtle floral notes.
The taste isn't as pronounced as the smell of this brew. Tastes of pine and hops, finishes with a bit of malt in the aftertaste.
Feels great when drinking, smooth and just right on the carbonation.
Drinkability on this one is above average, in my opinion. A great tasting brew, with not too much alcohol content. Could be my favorite "session" brew.

Orange copper colour with a white head that leaves a nice-looking lacing. The smell is truly something to behold. All kinds of fruits and flowers come together to form a bouquet of brilliance that is hard to describe using only the words in our English language. Suffice it to say that the smell is so powerful that I almost feel as if drinking it would be an affront to my nose. The taste, while by no means as affront, simply doesn't live up to to the nose. That, however will be the only negative thing you will hear me say about this. It tastes wonderful, with a hops taste, and a malt finish that creates a wonderful balance, while still maintaining the bite and bitterness that a good IPA should have. Feels wonderful, with a great body, and I could drink this all day. A great product that I'll be glad to have another of.

Apearance is a dark gold with a cloudy hew. A decent white foam head.

Smells of strong hops and alcohol. Some malty smells as well as a light grass smell.

Very bitter with a strong presence of hops. Leaves a strong after taste of hops and alcohol.

Very smooth feel with a heavy presence.

Great IPA to drink. Not to strong, not to light. Just a great all around IPA

A: Poured with an average-sized, white head, that scored pretty well in the lasting-department. Body is hazy and a light orange color.

S: Excellent aroma. Lots of hops, and lots of citrus... especially orange and lemon. Beautiful.

T: Huge citrus blast at first, then the equally-huge bitterness hits you at the finish. This results in an expected very-long-lasting flavor.

M: Creamy, medium-bodied, average carbonation.

D: Being on the east coast of Canada, I've probably been lucky to have the few Stone beers that I've managed to find on trips to the U.S. Beers like this one continue to make me want to try more... three for three so far, Stone! Keep up the excellent work.

Appearance: Golden color that has a nice froth and lace

Smell: HOPS, HOPS and more Hops. Very nice smell of hops with a slight fruity undertone.

Taste: A great amount of hops at first taste. Incredible character of hops but very smooth at the same time. A bit of a bitter finish from all the hops but it is just perfect.

One of the best IPAs you can buy. Highly recommend.

Pours a pale golden yellow with hints of orange and a slight haze. Left a good 1" off-white head with good retention. Leaves solid lacing. Smell is piney and earthy. Makes you think of the woods. Taste is initially smooth with a smokey hop bight for a finish. Kind of burnt. Mouthfeel is pretty light, mild carbonation. A little too mild actually. Drinkability is good never the less. This is a great bitter IPA. Not too complex, just right.

The standard for SoCal ipas. Copper pour, looks beautiful, aroma, big bold citrus hop, taste, more of the same. Amazing finish, leaves little to no aftertaste, just hits big all over the tongue. Must be some real crystal malt or something

Can't really faultthe mouthfeel for going away, it would be worse if it didn't. Very drinkable. Example: Got a keg of this in Reno for graduation 10 years ago, when just about nobody (especially college age) had ever had it.

Lots of pukey chicks at the end of the night, who didn't realize that this stuff has some kick. I had never seen chicks drink anything so good and bitter. Good times.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass.

A: Comes out a nice copper color with great clarity and carbonation. The head's decent and the lacing's good. A fine looking bber, all in all.

S: As they say on the bottle, it's dry-hopped so there they are. Pine notes up front with some citrus buried deep within. Not bad at all.

T: Great hopiness on top of bitterness. Those two are the most evident, but there's some citrusy flavor underneath. Grapefruit, maybe? Tough to tell. A good IPA flavor.

M: A perfect, medium body with spot-on carboantion. It goes down clean and after a few sips, I can feel it in my gut. Real good stuff.

D: Hoppy beers always get a little easier for me to drink as I go along. It's the first one that I have to get through. That wasn't too hard with this brew at all. Take two if you get the bigger bottle.

Overall/notes: This is just a good IPA from Stone. I preferred their Pale Ale a little more, but that just speaks about how great THAT beer was. This one is... well it's really good, too. An easy-to-access beer that'd be great for novices (like myself) to look into.

Stone IPA how can you go wrong. You can smell the hops in this one, and its got great character to back it up. I am a hop head, and was very satisfied after having my first Stone IPA years ago, and after having one tonight, had to rate it.

If you like IPA's this is a no brainer! Great appearance, not too carbonated, and will simply blow you away.

Served in a pint glass.

A: Large frothy head from the pour. The head was bone white and diminished fairly quickly leaving excellent lace. As I continued to drink I realized the body didn't have any stick to the glass and left spare to none lacing. The body was an amberish-yellow (clear with just a little haze) and I swear there were barely noticeable green highlights. Huh.

S: Average malt bill. Grains and biscuits. The hops were indeed fresh. And heavy! Floral, herbal, grassy and just a smidge of citrus. There was a small yeast contribution to the aroma, that of sweat and must.

T: Pretty average but some pretty decent flavors come through. Mango, honey, light brown sugar, pepper, coriander and other spices, tobacco and a bit of some cardboard.

M: Again, nothing to write home about. Semi creamy texture with lively/prickly carbonation and a big, not quite heavy bitter finish.

D: Drinks pretty well but not much better than your average, baseline IPA.

Poured into an imperial Pint glass, from a six-pack

A- Nice clear gold, with a chunky white head

S- Hops, wonderful hops. Citrusy, with a resin background.

T- First gulp, the hop aroma delivered into the taste. Second taste, well balanced bitterness, citrus with pine notes coupled with caramel. Pleasant after taste.

M- Not thin, well carbed and with a stickiness from the malts

D- Very drinkable, after the first taste I noted to myself, "save some bottles for tomorrow".

Had to fight off my hophead cat, who couldn't keep her nose out of the glass(a high mark of approval)

Poured a bottle of this beer into a Firestone pint glass.

A. Nice amber color with a good one inch head. Good retention and lacing.

S. Smells of hops. Floral hops with a slight hint of sweatness.

T. Pretty good beer. Not as citrusy as I usually like but still tasty. Pretty standard for an ipa. Lots of bitter hops.

M. Medium body with a long bitter aftertaste. Good carbonation.

D. This beer was good but I feel that there are a many better IPA's in Cali. I would have trouble drinking more than 2 of these at one sitting.

Reviewed from notes. Originally consumed 12/23.

A- Pours an light orange color with a white two finger head.

S-Fresh citrus and pine notes dominate here with a hint of caramel malt.

T-Follows the nose with citrus and pine bitterness with a caramel malt base that balances things a little.

M-Really creamy and smooth for an IPA. Medium boded with moderate carbonation.

D-This is one easy drinking IPA. It's easily one of my favorites and I hope Stone makes it to Chicago soon so I can regularly enjoy this fine beer.

Poured into a frozen pint glass.

A: Wonderful light amber/gold with a small tan head that stays.

S: Grapefruit, rich hops, a sweet character with hints of pine.

T: Nice initial hoppy, citrus body with an aftertaste that delivers too much pine for my liking.

Drinkability: I think it's a must to have more than one of these, or precede it with another IPA in order to get used to the piney undertones this one shows.

Value: Expensive, considering what else is out there in IPA Land.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle.

A: One finger of off white foamy head. Slight carbonation. Golden copper color and crystal clear. The head is retained nicely with great lacing.

S: Floral hops, orange zest, a little piney. Touch of coriander.

T: Bitter hops, yeast, citrus, grain. A bit sweet on the finish, and moderate alcohol warmth.

M: Silky and smooth, balanced by a perfect amount of carbonation and alcohol.

D: This is very drinkable. The flavors are nicely balanced, and the hops don't overwhelm like many other IPAs. Alcohol is just right to add a perfect warmth to the finish.

Poured into pint glass...

A: Very crisp and clean golden lemon body with a nice two finger head that falls to a thin foam leaving excellent lacing behind. Crystal clear body...

S: Massive grapefruit aroma with a hint of tangerine and faint grassy floral aroma as well.

T: Grapefruit, grapefruit, grapefruit...wow what a citrus bomb! Heavy citrus, faint pine in the finish and almost no malt profile. Delicious but very one note...

M: Light medium body that is very crisp, nice carbonation, dances on the tongue.

D: Very drinkable and crisp, dry finish adds to the drinkability. Very nice.

M-nice mouthfeel with the right amount of hops.
D-very drinkable ipa, definitely a session beer.4.5

Overall a Very nice ipa that I would recomend and drink again.

A-Pours nearly the color of honey with a white head that keeps a layer of foam throughout and leaves some amazing lacing up and down the entire glass.

S-Hoppy, grapefruit dominating with a hint of malt as well.

T-Grapefruit and citrus notes with an herbal hint just before the malt backbone.

M-Pretty thick, but has a good amount of carbonation to even it out.

D-I could drink this beer all day every day. Though slightly high on the abv. it is still very sessionable.

Overall, I first didn't properly appreciate this beer and now I am a true fan. I will drink this often. The review stats reflect this review session.

Poured a dark coppery gold. Nice two finger head that quickly disspated to one finger before I had a chance to take the first sip. Initial smells were with very forward hops but the citrus and fruit was present as well. The hop and fruit flavors are very forward on the palate. The taste hits you right away and then goes away with a nice balance. This beer does not have a huge bitter aftertaste you might expect given the initial smell and taste. Overall just another impressive Stone product.

T: Citrus and pine hops up front. Bready malts in the foundation. Evenly bitter in the finish.

M: Light to medium body. High carbonation. Resiny hops linger a bit in the finish.

D: As sessionable an IPA as they come. Not quite the complexity or big malt foundatiton as its big brother, but I could drink a few of these.
