Pours an opaque dark brown with tan head. Head starts of really thick, but as it dissipates it leaves an incredibly thin layer on top. Some spotty lacing. Smells of smoke and roasted malt, though the smoke isn't as huge as some smoked beers. Lots of roasted flavour. Body is thinner than some porters, but it is on the verge of almost being creamy. I expected more smoke based on the name, but still a tasty beer.

Served in a tulip glass.

Dark brown with a tan head that dispersed quickly that left little lacing.

Coffee and chocolate with a hint of smoke as it warmed up the smoke intensified.

Burnt coffee and chocolate up front with some bitterness in the middle and a light smokey finish.

Really never liked this beer in the past, I could not taste any smokiness in it. They had it on tap and decided to get a small glass of this to try it again and was happy that I did. It is a great beer.

Appearance- No head, dark brown beer, light reddish around the edges.

Smell- Very little nose here. Thats about it.

Taste- Slightly smoked flavor here, not overly burnt though, some hops and chocolate and coffee notes are very subdued.

Mouthfeel- Perhaps a bit watery here.

Drinkability- Solid.

22 oz bottle

Pours a dark black color with a slight reddish tint and a tan head, approximately 1/2", a good looking beer

AAroma - chocolatey, rosaty but I do not pick up any smoke

Taste delicious, a little roasty, a little chocolatey, a hint of coffee that finishes crisp and somewhat dry but once again I daon't get any smoke

Mouthfeel - smooth and very drinkable. Another fine product from Stone Brewing
