Acquired about a 6 months ago - I'm past the drink by date by less than a month, oh well. 22oz. bomber poured into my standard pint glass.
Looks really nice - pours a cloudy mahogany, reddish brown color with a foamy light tan head that lasts for a long, long time. Gobs of sticky lacing just cling to the glass for the entire 22oz. Looks rich and inviting!
The nose has some piney hops, lots of caramelized sugar and malts, some spiciness which I can't put my finger on, and just the slightest hint of alcohol in the background. Quite a unique smell - not sure how they do it, but it's awesome.
Taste is just awesome. Love this beer. Big on the malts, mostly toasted caramel, some light bittersweet chocolate notes, some spicy grainy nuances, and a really tasty citrus/pine hoppiness to finish things off. Really delicious.
Mouthfeel is crisp, creamy, and smooth with a medium body and awesome drinkability.
Love this one. Really hit the spot tonight.
