Standard 1pt 6fl oz bottle into Sam Smith pint glass
A - the head forms very well, and is a nice cream color, beautiful all over lacing coats the glass. the color of the beer is enchanting: it is a ruddy brown, like an ox blood leather belt or pair of shoes, or a well worn leather chain in an old library, something that calls 'please sit in me, for I am incredibly comfortable,' or the likes
S - bitter hops jump out right in front, extremely aromatic. some toasted malts in the back, presenting a slight sweetness and a musty smell, simply great!
T - damn, thats how a beer should taste! this has been one of my favorites for a long time, and reviewing it with all care and attention I can really remember why. the foreground is a grainy taste, with some pinch of the hops. a small swallow allows an explosion of hops bursting all over, allowing a full complement to the malts and other grains used. the malts come out slightly more and in a light sweetness during the finish, the hops also at first pack a big punch, then they subside and let the residual sweetness reign in. the aftertaste is distinctively bitter with some graininess but not as much as the other parts of the drinking.
MF&D - smooth, crisp, refreshing, intoxicating. what more could I possibly ask for? this beer has a perfect consistency for the booze and flavour, and I rarely say that. well, I'm going to go review the oaked and double, so I'll find out if there is anything else I can ask for in this line of beer!

I picked up a bomber of this to go with my last two beers I didn't finish from last night's session. I am glad I did! It's a bit pricey, but worth it.
Great colour on the pour, a deep coopery brown that smells slightly of bread and majorly of hops. Not overly-hoppy, but that's what comes through. A nice 1" head formed in my pilsner glass and finally settled to a not-very-thin disc of foam that stayed the entire time I was drnking. Heavy lacing appears, and you can easily tell where each sip started and stopped.
The taste... wow. A very well balanced ale, with up-front sweetness from the malts that immediately switches over to the hops for a very nice finish - not too dry, not too sweet. I mean, VERY well balanced, impressively so! Mouthfeel is thick enough without being too chewy, and nicely carbonated. The higher-than-average ABV is well-hidden, no alcohol is really present. This beer is an exercise in balance, it seems! Call it the Even Steven of beers.
Overall, I am mightily impressed with this beer, and will not balk at the premium price next time. I can see drinking this a lot!

A: very seductive looking in the glass, very dark. Poured a brownish 2 finger head on an aggressive pour.
S: Subtly hints of fig and hop were the predominant smell but this beer is not very fragrant at all, barely detected any aroma.
T: Hop and fig presence evident on the taste, definitely not an IPA (which seems like the style the were "going" for) but only because of the lack of some key flavors, not for the lack of hop. Overall I'm a little disappointed on the taste, not because the beer was bad but because of that long diatribe on the back of the bottle... made it seem like the beer would be something incredibly unique, which it wasnt. The beer was good and very drinkable so I tried not to let that little speech have an impact on my rating.
M: Good mouthfeel, light carbonation, a little bit sticky for my taste.
